Over the last few years, David has attended Precise Barber College (PBC), a social enterprise of
Covenant House California, at least three times a week. Under the guidance of Gabe Torres, co-owner of
PBC, David found his calling.
“When I first got this opportunity, I wasn’t really taking it too serious. I thought I would just try it out for
a couple weeks,” David said. “But I’m in love with this, everything I’m doing. Now I think of my future
completely differently than I used to.”
After a lot of hard work to perfect his craft, David is now the very first graduate of Precise Barber College!
He is employed as a barber in Hollywood and is making a life for himself with the unwavering support of
his Cov family.
“David’s killing it right now,” Gabe said. “When it comes to hair coloring and design, he just shines. He’s
still raw, but the big thing with this is not having the fear, and he’s just got no fear at all when it comes to
trying things out. I can’t wait for the day David has his own shop. That’s going to be one of my proudest
days, too.”
“Covenant House has changed my life and gave me a future. They gave
me hope and helped me understand more about myself. They showed
me how to put together a 5-year plan when I didn’t have one. The
opportunity to succeed in life and become a barber! My hands... for
art... gave me hope for my future. Without their help, I wouldn’t be
where I’m now. Gabe has pushed me into the direction of succeeding
at the Barber College. Thanks Gabe & Covenant House California!”
