1) The SPS (standard period of study) rate accounts for the percentage of students within the standard period of study measured against the total number
of students. Preparatory College students and some others (e.g. secondary school students in the Early Studies program, doctoral students) cannot be
attributed a standard period of study and are thus maintained as “no SPS.” Students who have exceeded their standard period of study are recorded as
“over SPS.” For setting quantifiable rates, however, it makes sense to compare only students who are assigned a standard period of study. Cases of
“no SPS” are therefore excluded from SPS rate generation.
