G E N D ER EQ UAL I T Y Development of the shares of women and men, 2000-2010 Men Women Note: Concerning the development of women in the various stages of their scientific careers across all university levels, there have been tw major developments in the last ten years. Firstly, the divide between women and men moved on the timeline, i.e. the divide now increases in the postdoc phase. Ten years ago, the divide was increasing already after completion of the first degree. The percentage of women seeking a doctoral degree is now approaching or even exceeding 50%. At higher academic levels, the divide is also lessening. However, given the relatively small numbers of those acquiring postdoctoral lecturing qualifications, there is considerable statistical variance from year to year.
