16 PUMPSIntelligent vacuum pumpseries for robust processesWith the claw pumps of the DZS 100 -400 VSD+ series, Atlas Copco islaunching a new air-cooled, oil-freeclaw pump for particularly harsh applications.The robust pump increases productivity inconveying, clamping, drying processes orenvironmental applications thanks to its lowenergy consumption and space requirementas well as its handling of pollutants. Using thenewly developed VSD+ App, users can nowset and access the relevant parameters of thevacuum pump quickly and in real time viaiOS or Android devices.For robust processesAtlas Copco has equipped the three modelsof the DZS 100, 200 and 400 VSD+ serieswith corrosion-resistant materials in order tobe well equipped for harsh applicationenvironments. For this purpose, they also havea durable internal coating. "This means wehave designed the vacuum pump specificallyfor a long service life and reliable, efficientoperation, even under robust processconditions," explains Alexander Frerichs,product manager for Atlas Copco’s DryVacuum Pumps.Low service effortIn addition, the design principle requiresuncomplicated maintenance: "For example,cleaning or replacing the pump claws doesnot require complex gearbox stripping andretiming," explains Alexander. This allowsquick access to the inside of the pump by ourservice technicians or by the end customer.This simplifies, for example, the removal ofproduct residues. No new synchronisation isnecessary during the subsequent assembly.This results in short downtimes and lowservice costs for the operator.No oil-induced contaminationA VSD+ inverter drive is integrated in themotors to control the pumps. This allows theoptimum performance points of the clawpump to be specifically controlled and powerconsumption to be reduced. This functionensures that energy is saved, and the CO2footprint is reduced. Sustainability is alsoensured in the immediate processenvironment: the completely oil-free DZSVSD+ pumps certified to ISO 8573-1 Class 0and are completely harmless to the quality ofthe ambient air during operation. Thiseliminates the risk of oil-inducedcontamination and damage to sensitiveapplications and products in the environment."This also includes the guarantee thatneither man nor the environment will beharmed by the use of the pumps",emphasises Alexander.Commissioning via AppWith the newly developed VSD+ App, usershave quick access to numerous parameters.Via the iOS and Android devices, values suchas inlet pressure, rotor speed, running hoursand service intervals can be monitored andcontrolled at a glance in real time. The VSD+App also makes it easy to commission theDZS VSD+ vacuum pump - via the threeparameters target pressure, start/stop delayand stop level. When the pump is started, theVSD+ App automatically connects viaBluetooth. Once the desired values have beenentered, the innovative DZS 100 - 400 VSD+series starts operation immediately.Finishing - January/February 2020
