WHERE?
DELHI
In 2015, NorBlack NorWhite decided to relocate
it’s office to Delhi to be closer to manufacturers
and young, new upcoming brands. NBNW didn’t
just rise out of the earth to become the popular
streetwear brand it is today, it was nurtured by the
age-old traditions of families of textile-makers.
When they were asked about the roots of
their brand, Kapadiya and Kumar go back to
their early travels to the time when they met a
multi-generational artisans family in Kutcch,
Gujarat, located in the north of the country,
the Khatris. With these artists, they learned
the Kutcch technique of bandhani, a kind of
tie-dye featuring a repeated diamond pattern.
“
We work to recognize
that indigenous
skills, stories and
trades are becoming
extinct by the day, so
if we don’t create the
space for it now, the
whole world will become
one big monocultural
plastic bubble
and that’s boring
and depressing.
