UHF/VHF/FM High-Gain Signal Amplifier
Your RadioShack UHF/VHF/FM High-
Gain Signal Amplifier can boost UHF
and FM signals and the VHF signal
from an outside antenna, cable TV
outlet, satellite TV receiver, VCR, or a
video disc player, up to 25 dB or more.
This is necessary when a signal is
sent through long cable lengths (100
ft. or more) or is split to many devices,
or when the original signal is too weak
to produce a good picture at the TV/
monitor or VCR.
The amplifier’s variable gain control
lets you adjust the amplification for
signals of varying strengths, so you
can compensate for both overload and
weak reception of very distant stations.
The FM trap feature lets you
tune out FM interference on your video
units, such as TVs and VCRs. Your
amplifier is designed for indoor use.
Other features include:
• Flat frequency response
• High gain/low-noise figure
• Easy installation
WALL MOUNTING
You can use the supplied screws to
attach the amplifier to the wall baseboard
near your TV/VCR/FM Receiver.
!

1. Select a mounting location as
close as possible to where the
antenna cable enters the house.
Note: If the distance between
your outdoor antenna and the rest
of your system exceeds 100 feet,
you might need another inline signal
amplifier (such as Cat. No. 15-
1117) at the antenna to compensate
for signal loss.
2. Drill two 3 /16-inch (5 mm) holes 6 1 /8
inches (155 mm) apart horizontally.
2
3. Thread the supplied screws into
the holes, leaving about 1 /8 inch
extended.
4. Align the keyhole slots on the
amplifier with the screw heads
and slide the amplifier down.
5. Tighten the screws securely.
CONNECTIONS
1. Connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable
from the antenna or cable outlet to
the IN terminal on the amplifier.
If the antenna lead-in wire is 300ohm
flat lead wire, use an Indoor/
Outdoor Matching Transformer
(Cat. No. 15-1140) to connect the
antenna and the amplifier.
2. Connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable
from the OUT terminal on the
amplifier to the TV/VCR/FM
receiver.
(increase size of illus to fill space; make all callouts 8-pt. bold)

If a UHF/VHF splitter (such as
Cat. No. 15-1252) is required,
attach the connector on the coaxial
cable to the 75-ohm connector
on the splitter. The other connections
on the splitter go to the VHF
and UHF terminals on the TV.
3. Plug the amplifier into a standard
AC outlet.
OPERATION
If you have interference from a strong
FM radio station (which appears as a
herringbone pattern on your TV
screen), set FM TRAP to IN. Be sure to
set it to OUT when using your FM receiver.
Rotate GAIN ADJUST to vary the
amount of gain for signals of different
strengths and reduce ghosting (double
images).
Note: GAIN ADJUST is preset to +.
To prevent overload from strong stations,
rotate GAIN ADJUST toward –.
To pick up distant stations, rotate
GAIN ADJUST toward +.
