General
Absolute Charter {Gray Line Tours}, Halifax. In 9/05, WLT 937 was in an all-over yellow livery for Aliant Yellow
Pages, WAS 970 (originally WLT 881) was in General (red/white) livery, and PRR 115L and LUA 717V were in
green all-over advertising livery for Keith’s India Pale Ale. ALD 943B, CUV 316C, JJD 373D and XHK 232X
were in red with large Gray Line Tours fleet names.
With the further influx of Routemasters in 2006, the Bristol VRT’s and ALD 943B have been advertised for sale.
Also I believe Reading Mainline may have sold WLT 937 to a Canadian dealer (or agent) as early as 11/99.
British Double Deck Tours, Halifax. For a number of years, may now be known as Double Decker Tours Inc..
Although Michael Penn visited Halifax in September 2005, he did not report sightings of any of their vehicles;
despite having come to an agreement with the larger Absolute Charter {Gray Line Tours} in Halifax, one is left
wondering if they have now ceased (last known fleet, 3 VR’s, JVL 620H, MVL 129P and DUP 750S).
Campbell, Dominion. JAE 630D continued in use as a fish-and-chip and burger bus and traded opposite the
entrance to Dominion Beach Provincial Park. However it left this site at the end of the 1997 season, to be
parked up, for sale, at Linda Campbell’s house, and is not thought to have traded subsequently.
Johnson, Sydney. JAE 630D was converted into a fish-and-chip and burger bus with seating for 29 upstairs;
RCP 333K was similarly treated seating 33 upstairs, and both traded on the esplanade at Sydney in a red
livery. JAE 630D also had its entrance relocated to the (UK) off-side. RCP 333K is engineless.
McDonald, Birch Grove. LLU 609 was “derelict” when acquired from Andrews, Port Morien, and it is believed
McDonald broke up this RT shortly after acquisition.
Wadden, Sydney. It appears JAE 630D and RCP 333K have been re-united under JIm Wadden’s ownership.
JAE 630D’s interior has been stripped out and so has probably not been used for some time. RCP 333K,
when seen in late 9/05, contained cans of drink, condiments, etc., and had a permit to serve food which did not
expire until March 2006, so was still in use (or had been until just days earlier). RCP 333K was in a waterfront
car park, and JAE 630D was in an open yard close by.
