However, shopp<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

<strong>and</strong> try<strong>in</strong>g on dresses is<br />

a bridal experience that<br />

will change to enforce<br />

COVID-19 precautions.<br />

At Sparkle Bridal Couture,<br />

Gonzalez cont<strong>in</strong>ues<br />

to focus on creat<strong>in</strong>g a safe<br />

space for plus-size brides.<br />

“We <strong>are</strong> known for our spacious bridal lounges,<br />

<strong>and</strong> now we’ve made them even more ample to accommodate<br />

for social distanc<strong>in</strong>g,” she says. “We’ve<br />

exp<strong>and</strong>ed our virtual experiences too—from directto-bride<br />

shopp<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> curbside pick-up, to video<br />

consultations <strong>and</strong> Zoom party c<strong>all</strong>s with the bride’s<br />

loved ones who cannot be with her at her appo<strong>in</strong>tment,<br />

along with more options to accommodate<br />

brides’ schedules <strong>and</strong> needs.”<br />

At <strong>The</strong> Clothes M<strong>in</strong>e, Owner Tracy L<strong>in</strong>denberger<br />

has been navigat<strong>in</strong>g the changes at bridal appo<strong>in</strong>tments<br />

to ensure the safety of both the store’s staff<br />

<strong>and</strong> the customers. “Brides will need to be prep<strong>are</strong>d<br />

that their dress shopp<strong>in</strong>g experiences will be different<br />

no matter what,” L<strong>in</strong>denberger says. “Stores will be<br />

different—but we promise to still make it special.”<br />

She suggests brides c<strong>all</strong> the stores <strong>in</strong> advance to<br />

make appo<strong>in</strong>tments <strong>and</strong> ask how the appo<strong>in</strong>tment<br />

will go. “F<strong>in</strong>d out what will be different <strong>and</strong> how you<br />

should be prep<strong>are</strong>d for new safety precautions,” she<br />

says. “At <strong>The</strong> Clothes M<strong>in</strong>e, we will avoid close contact<br />

dur<strong>in</strong>g bridal appo<strong>in</strong>tments. I suggest brides br<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

friend or relative who can help <strong>in</strong> the fitt<strong>in</strong>g room to<br />

zip up <strong>and</strong> secure the dresses. We’ll request everyone<br />

wear masks. <strong>The</strong> experience will be slightly more<br />

self-service, but we will make sure we’re assist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

shar<strong>in</strong>g our knowledge.”<br />

More signage will be posted around the store to<br />

answer frequently asked questions, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g how<br />

long will it take to order <strong>and</strong> ship the dress. “If you<br />

<strong>are</strong> proceed<strong>in</strong>g with your<br />

orig<strong>in</strong>al wedd<strong>in</strong>g date, ask<br />

the store if they’ll sell a<br />

dress to you off the rack.<br />

rush shipp<strong>in</strong>g. “We<br />

have been try<strong>in</strong>g to be<br />

m<strong>in</strong>dful with our brides<br />

as they come <strong>in</strong> with their<br />

wedd<strong>in</strong>g plans set <strong>in</strong> the<br />

upcom<strong>in</strong>g months,” she<br />

says. “We have been able<br />

to get gowns right away,<br />

whether <strong>in</strong> stock or on<br />

a rush order. Because<br />

we do on-site alterations,<br />

we’ve been able to<br />

accommodate our customers<br />

with fast turnaround alterations. Our tuxedo<br />

company we work with is also able to still send out<br />

tuxes or suits for the men. We <strong>are</strong> <strong>all</strong> <strong>in</strong> this together<br />

<strong>and</strong> we will get through it <strong>in</strong> time.”<br />

WEDDING PLANNERS<br />

Veronica Enns, owner <strong>and</strong> wedd<strong>in</strong>g planner at <strong>The</strong><br />

530 Bride, is cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g to work remotely, while<br />

provid<strong>in</strong>g support to her clients through email, phone<br />

<strong>and</strong> virtual plann<strong>in</strong>g sessions. “We’re leverag<strong>in</strong>g our<br />

onl<strong>in</strong>e plann<strong>in</strong>g dashboard,” she says. “We have created<br />

a process for assist<strong>in</strong>g couples with the steps for<br />

be<strong>in</strong>g prep<strong>are</strong>d to postpone to hopefully make that<br />

process a bit more streaml<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>and</strong> less of an impact<br />

on couples.”<br />

Communication is key, not just with updat<strong>in</strong>g your<br />

vendors but also alert<strong>in</strong>g guests to any changes. “We<br />

recommend us<strong>in</strong>g your wedd<strong>in</strong>g website to update<br />

any changes or even hav<strong>in</strong>g one family member or<br />

your planner assist with reach<strong>in</strong>g out to guests if any<br />

changes need to be communicated or confirmed with<br />

guests,” she says.<br />

Ca<strong>in</strong> Event Plann<strong>in</strong>g Owner Rachelle Ca<strong>in</strong>-Wigg<strong>in</strong>s<br />

is focus<strong>in</strong>g on be<strong>in</strong>g flexible dur<strong>in</strong>g this time. “Couples<br />

need empathy first,” she says. “It’s an emotional time.<br />

<strong>Wedd<strong>in</strong>g</strong> logistics <strong>and</strong> details come second after acknowledg<strong>in</strong>g<br />

their feel<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> how I can best service<br />

them dur<strong>in</strong>g this time.”<br />

Krist<strong>in</strong>a Foerster of Events by Krist<strong>in</strong>a Elyse is also<br />

adjust<strong>in</strong>g to follow the orders from the Governor’s office<br />

as they <strong>are</strong> released.<br />

“Due to the shelter <strong>in</strong><br />

place m<strong>and</strong>ate, <strong>all</strong> our<br />

April to June wedd<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

have been pushed to<br />

later this year or early<br />

next year. This is new for<br />

everyone, so <strong>all</strong> we can<br />

do is stay flexible, patient<br />

<strong>and</strong> positive.”<br />
