1998 Mazda 626<br />

The on-board programming procedures for <strong>the</strong> Mazda 626 should be <strong>use</strong>d only if <strong>the</strong> preferred<br />
methods are unavailable. The Mazda dealers <strong>use</strong> a New Generation Star Tester <strong>to</strong> originate and<br />
add new duplicate <strong>key</strong>s <strong>to</strong> this model vehicle.<br />
The ILCO RW2 or RW2, RW3, RW4/EZ-Clone should be <strong>use</strong>d for <strong>the</strong>se purposes by Ilco dealers.<br />
The following procedures will require pre-programmed <strong>key</strong>s. Ilco transponder <strong>key</strong>s fo<br />
Mazda are not available pre-programmed<br />
Originate New Master Key or Add Duplicate Key<br />
1. Insert new <strong>key</strong> in<strong>to</strong> ignition cylinder and turn it <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ON (RUN) position. Turn back <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
LOCK position. Repeat until this has been done five times. Do not let <strong>the</strong> lock sit for more<br />
than one second in any position during this step.<br />
2. Turn <strong>the</strong> <strong>key</strong> back <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ON (RUN) position. The dash mounted security light should be<br />
flashing rapidly. Within twenty seconds turn <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> LOCK position and leave it <strong>the</strong>re for five<br />
minutes. After this five minute delay, <strong>the</strong> security light should slow <strong>to</strong> a much slower rate.<br />
3. Within twenty seconds, enter <strong>the</strong> code password.<br />
4. The code password is obtained by supplying <strong>the</strong> vehicle’s Immobilizer Unit serial number <strong>to</strong><br />
Mazda. It is an eight digit number unique <strong>to</strong> each Immobilizer Unit.<br />
5. While carefully watching <strong>the</strong> dash mounted security light, turn <strong>the</strong> ignition <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ON (RUN)<br />
position. Count <strong>the</strong> number of flashes by <strong>the</strong> security light and turn back <strong>to</strong> LOCK when <strong>the</strong><br />
number of flashes equals <strong>the</strong> first digit of <strong>the</strong> password.<br />
1998+ ToyoTa, Lexus<br />
The Toyota Electronic Control Module does not have programming modes without a pre-programmed<br />
<strong>key</strong>. If <strong>the</strong>re is no <strong>key</strong> available that is already programmed in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> module, <strong>the</strong> module<br />
must be replaced.<br />
To delete all but one <strong>key</strong> from <strong>the</strong> unit<br />
1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelera<strong>to</strong>r pedals 1 time.<br />
2. Insert an existing master <strong>key</strong> in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ignition cylinder.Do not turn <strong>the</strong> <strong>key</strong> from <strong>the</strong> OFF<br />
(LOCK) position.<br />
3. Within fifteen seconds of inserting <strong>the</strong> <strong>key</strong>, depress and release <strong>the</strong> accelera<strong>to</strong>r pedal six<br />
times.<br />
4. Within twenty seconds of completing <strong>the</strong> above step, depress and release <strong>the</strong> brake pedal<br />
seven times.<br />
5. The security light will flash, indicating all <strong>key</strong>s o<strong>the</strong>r than <strong>the</strong> one being <strong>use</strong>d have been<br />
deleted.<br />
6. Remove <strong>the</strong> <strong>key</strong> from <strong>the</strong> ignition cylinder within ten seconds. It will be <strong>the</strong> only <strong>key</strong> still<br />
programmed <strong>to</strong> work.<br />
PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES<br />
6. Within thirty seconds, turn <strong>the</strong> ignition lock back <strong>to</strong> ON (RUN) and count until <strong>the</strong> number of<br />
flashes matches <strong>the</strong> value of <strong>the</strong> second digit of <strong>the</strong> password. Turn <strong>the</strong> ignition lock back<br />
<strong>to</strong> LOCK.<br />
7. Repeat until all eight password digits have been entered. Use caution and turn <strong>the</strong> lock<br />
from one position <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r only when <strong>the</strong> security light is NOT illuminated. If a mistake<br />
is made or <strong>the</strong> count of flashes is lost, wait forty-five seconds and start over.<br />
8. When <strong>the</strong> security light s<strong>to</strong>ps flashing and stays illuminated, <strong>the</strong> password has been entered<br />
correctly.<br />
9. Start <strong>the</strong> vehicle and <strong>the</strong> security light should go off within two seconds.<br />
10. Additional new <strong>key</strong>s may be added by inserting <strong>the</strong>m and starting <strong>the</strong> car within twenty<br />
seconds of removing <strong>the</strong> previous <strong>key</strong>.<br />
11. Thirty seconds after <strong>the</strong> last <strong>key</strong> has been removed, <strong>the</strong> vehicle will end <strong>the</strong> program mode<br />
and return <strong>to</strong> normal operating mode.<br />
Add Duplicate Key<br />
1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelera<strong>to</strong>r pedals 1 time.<br />
2. Insert existing master <strong>key</strong> in<strong>to</strong> ignition.<br />
3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelera<strong>to</strong>r pedal 5 times.<br />
4. Within 20 seconds depress and release <strong>the</strong> brake pedal 6 times and remove <strong>key</strong>.<br />
5. Within 10 seconds insert new <strong>key</strong> in<strong>to</strong> ignition.<br />
6. Within 10 seconds depress and release <strong>the</strong> accelera<strong>to</strong>r pedal 1 time.<br />
7. After 80 seconds new <strong>key</strong> is registered and security light goes off.<br />
8. Remove new <strong>key</strong> and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.
