Man pleads guilty to sharing mosque video
A MAN pleaded guilty in
district court yesterday on
charges of reposting the
livestream of the Christchurch
mosque shootings on Facebook.
The man – who continues to
have name suppression – was
an 18-year-old when
Property goes for $1.14m
above rateable valuation
AUCTIONS continue to boom in
Christchurch with sellers getting
well over rating valuation.
The latest big seller, 130 Styx
Mill Rd in Casebrook, went
under the hammer for $2.85
million – $1.14 million above the
2019 rating valuation.
It continues a trend in the city
in recent months, real estate
agents say.
Ray White
agents Chris
Nielsen and
Jenna Mills,
who were
marketing the
property, had
Chris Nielsen
Jenna Mills
two offers prior
to the auction
and four active
bidders on the
day.
“The campaign
was incredibly
active
throughout
with a mix of
private buyers
and developers
– that’s one of the many reasons
we had over 50 groups through
during the opens,” Nielsen said.
The Styx Mill Rd property was
built 33 years ago and had never
been on the market before. It was
pitched as having development
potential, with the large section
zoned Residential New Neighbourhood.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for
an astute purchaser to explore
the commercial possibilities,” the
listing said.
SOLD: This property at 130 Styx Mill Rd, Casebrook, sold at auction for $2.85 million.
It has four bedrooms, two
Ray White South Island regional
manager Jane Meyer said the auctions
in the region are busier than
ever, going against predictions
made in March.
“Anyone thinking that the
Christchurch auction market
is somewhere nearing its peak
should think again – we’re
seeing exceptional results after
exceptional results week-onweek
– it’s just getting stronger,”
she said.
It’s not just the top end
that’s feeling the heat. A 1930s
attracting more than 30 offers.
Woman dies after
crash
A woman in her 90s critically
injured in a crash in Prebbleton
on Tuesday has died. Two
others were seriously injured
in the three-car crash at the
intersection of Birchs and
Robinsons Rds about 3.30pm.
One person was trapped in each
vehicle and they were freed by
firefighters. All three were taken
the woman later died.
Water Conservation
Order not advised
City council staff are advising
against seeking a Water
Conservation Order to protect
Christchurch’s groundwater. Staff
were asked by elected members
last year to investigate the merits
of seeking a WCO from the
Ministry for the Environment,
but they have concluded it is not
the best course of action. Staff are
concerned it would be too timeconsuming
and costly and that
it may not achieve the outcomes
desired. They will recommend
the city council does not proceed
with a WCO application at a
meeting next week.
