GB Clean Up
Volunteers across the borough have been taking part in
the Great British September Clean, picking up litter across
the whole community and enabling residents to take
pride in their surroundings. More than 50 litter picking
volunteers were out in force in Appley Bridge, Shevington
Moor, Standish Lower Ground as well as the centre of
Shevington and Standish, targeting discarded rubbish.

Cllr Marlaine Whitham who helped to organise the
Shevington litter pick told Local Life, “There are a number
of very committed volunteer litter pickers who help all
through the year, supporting Wigan Council and the
Parish Council. “They help to keep the area tidy week in
and week out, we are proud of where we live but wish no
one dropped any litter of course!”
That sentiment was echoed by Standish Cllr Deborah
Parkinson, who has seen teams out all week in Standish
collecting bags and bags of rubbish. She added, “I would
like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came out
to help with our litter pick. We had a fantastic turnout but
please bin your rubbish or take it home with you!”
So, we like to think we nailed ‘making uniform
shopping hassle free’ so we would now like to do
the same for our workwear customers.
