Thermal temperature check on all <strong>GDS</strong> employees: All <strong>GDS</strong> employees are subject to a thermal temperature check at one of the designated stations on a daily basis. This is to be done before they enter any classroom or office at the beginning of each workday. For speed of entry, employees assigned to the lower school should use the check-in station within the main building upon entry to their classroom or office. Employees assigned to the upper school (circle area of the main building) and PKW building should enter through the PKW where a check-in station is set up, and employees assigned to the Henry Center should use the check-in station at the Henry Center. Coaches and personnel that only come after school hours will be required to have a temperature check as well. Although the obvious location for a coach to receive a temperature check is the Henry Center, other personnel may use the other two check-in locations depending on their assignment. For example, an after-school care employee may use the main entrance or the Henry Center, while the instrument instructors would use the PKW’s check-in location. Any employee that has a temperature reading of 100.4 degrees or above will be isolated and re-checked. If their temperature remains elevated, they will be asked to leave and have a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. Employees, substitutes and coaches who pass through a thermal scanner and are not flagged for elevated temperatures or have passed a temperature recheck will be given a wristband each day to verify that they have been checked and approved to stay on campus before heading to their assigned areas. If you are seen in any campus building without a wristband, you will be asked to go to a selected temperature scanning location to be checked and receive a wristband. Campus visits by parents, vendors, or other persons expected or random: Although we will attempt to limit the number of campus visitors, all visitors will be directed to the front entrance of our main building. After 8:30 all doors normally open for staff and student entry may be locked. Unscheduled visitors, and vendors, if allowed gate entry, will be directed to the main office's front entrance. The main front entrance door may be locked throughout the day. Therefore, the use of the doorbell system will be necessary. Once entry is granted, all persons will be subject to a thermal temperature check. If elevated readings are detected, visitors and/or vendors may be asked to leave campus and resume their business when they have complied with the return to campus policies on pages 17 and 18. Parents may be asked to leave and return another day, or return to their vehicle and wait if they are on campus to pick up a student for an off-campus appointment. Drills: The only mandated drill for our school is the fire drill. Fire drills will be conducted and all staff will be retrained on how we will conduct fire drills while practicing physical distancing. However, in a real fire, it should be understood that physical distancing will not be required, as getting everyone out as quickly as possible always supersedes physical distancing efforts. We also understand the need for other drills, such as lock downs, five-out, tornados etc. Drills will be evaluated for operability under the threat level presented by the virus. As the threat level reduces, tabletop exercises may be offered with consideration for suitable practice of safe physical distancing. If the threat level increases, we will continue with the suspension of those drills that are not mandated. Instead, we will look at the utilization of mandating emergency policy guideline review as a method of familiarization with other drill responses. Regardless of the threat level, all real events should be done expeditiously with regard to life-saving methods first and foremost before concern of physical distancing. Training is not associated with drills. We will attempt to have as many Covid-related training / scenarios as practical throughout the school year.
