FROM THE AHH TEAM AASE HAUGEN HERALD
Celebrating the Journey
Darlyene Iverson(l) has a good time with Kulla
Mincks(r)! In the homey setting of MCAL, she has
her privacy when she wants it and a fulfilling
social calendar with her fellow tenants, visitors
and guests when she’s ready for that as well. Spacious
apartments, caring, friendly workers and a
comfortable routine make each day a good day!
(RIGHT) These lovely ladies are pretty darned proud of their handiwork,
as they look over three light quilts they made during their
sewing club get-together in the Activity Room at AHH! Many thanks to
all who donate material, time and know-how through the sewing club.
When the spring crop of strawberries came in, the crew in
memory care assisted living (MCAL) found themselves with a
wonderful dilemma, wondering what to do with such good
produce! As it turns out, Julia Tallman , pictured left, has
made jams and jellies for years! She gladly stepped up to help
with the stirring and cooking to make a fantastic strawberry
preserve!
Not only did she enjoy making
it, but she also enjoyed eating it
with her friends and neighbors!
There are eight tenants currently
living in MCAL who enjoy living
and working together as a true
household, with each person doing
as they are able and as they
enjoy. Workers are on hand to
assist tenants in MCAL with their
housekeeping and laundry as they
need.
They have a lovely, secure
courtyard area when they can
tend flowers, plants and enjoy
some much appreciated sunshine!
June marks the fifth anniversary
of MCAL’s opening, with five
years of success and a bright future
ahead. Many thanks to all
the family and friends in the community
for the continued support
of this valuable and needed branch of service!
One thing we did learn from Julia’s jam; it takes patience
and a lot of attention—just like anything worthwhile!
