“Place where seafood is found” (Dharug)
Today the site is known to be an
entertainment precinct for the heart
of Sydney locals and tourist, from the
International Conventional Centre, Chinese
garden, shopping mall,variety of restaurants,
bars, rebirth of the IMAX theatre and a space
for temporary performance and events. On
the outer skirts of Tumbalong Park is the
CBD, UTS, residents and etc.

The history of the site dates back as early
as 7,000 years ago known for transporting
goods mainly food from Darling Harbour
along the Parramatta river. The site used
to be in water, only until 1980’s onwards
where Darling Harbour was transformed
into a place for the people of Sydney with
reclamation of land from the existing Cockle
bay into what Tumbalong park is today. For
many years the site hasn’t been used for any
projects other than an open green space for
temporary events.
