The project located on Tumbalong Park
is the Sydney Medical Distribution Centre
which utilises technologies such as drones
to deliver medical needs more effectively
during and after COVID-19 situations for
the Inner Sydney suburbs. Within 3km
to the site there are 15 pharmaceutical
companies which could help administrate
or supply medical products to the centre. As
the population increases rapidly in Sydney,
delivery services are struggling to meet the
demand in current and future times. The
service which will bring convenience and
assistance to those who are physically or
mentally disadvantaged through chronic
illness.
The architecture brief for the project was
based on a morphological constraint of
a cylinder measuring 90m diameter x
120m high. The program is the key which
differentiates a project from another with
most of the emphasis on the functional
space within the form. For this instance, the
architecture is uniquely crafted based on
the process of a medical distribution centre
which its goal is to deliver as much medical
needs to the thousands of patients within
the city in a day.
