DENTAL WHITENING, A GREAT ALTERNATIVE PRIOR TO
AESTHETIC RESTORATIVE TREATMENT

TREATMENT PERFORMED:
The mixed technique (association of office and home whitening) with Power Bleaching Office 37% and Power Bleaching Home
10% was used. There was no need for previous desensitizing procedure and during the treatment, as the patient did not have
any sensitivity.

METHODOLOGY USED
TECHNIQUE:
Prophylaxis was performed with pumice stone and water on all the patient's teeth, photograph of the initial color (3.5M2) and
choice of the desired color” (0M1). This way, it was possible to define the home whitening time of nine (9) weeks, because
between the colors 3.5M2 (initial) and 0M1 (preferred) there are nine (9) points of value;
Power Bleaching Office 37% was applied for 1 hour.
Due to the presence of substances capable of reducing sensitivity (carbamide
peroxide and potassium oxalate), intervals were not necessary during the application
of the bleaching gel.

At the end of the office session, the patient was instructed to continue using Power Bleaching Home 10% (home whitening)
for seven (7) days, in sessions of one (1) to two (2) hours daily, and never sleep with the acetate trays, so that their pressure
due to the gel containment was not a causal factor of dental sensitivity. We also recommend immediate brushing after eating
strongly colored foods such as: wine, açaí, soft drinks, using a super soft brush, preferably without the use of abrasive paste;

The patient returned to the office after seven (7) days. The second session was held with Power Bleaching Office 37% for one
(1) hour. As there was no sensitivity report, it is possible to increase the concentration of the home gel to Power Bleaching
Home 16%. In her third and fourth returns for whitening in the office, the same form of application was followed, with a
change in the concentration of the home gel, to Power Bleaching Home 22%, used until the end of the nine (9) weeks of
treatment;

CONCLUSION FROM MY
EXPERIENCE
Significant and satisfactory improvement was observed in the
patient's aesthetic aspect and tooth whitening. The treatment was
concluded with the evolution of final color to: central and canine 0.5M1
of the Vita Bleachedguide 3D-MASTER scale.
