What are A Levels?<br />

⚫ Subject based qualification<br />

⚫ More academic and exam based<br />

⚫ Studied over 2 years<br />

⚫ To study A Levels at Gateshead College you’ll need<br />

to achieve 6 x grade 6 GCSEs


APPRENTICESHIPS.


What is an apprenticeship and<br />

what does it involve?<br />

⚫ Apprenticeships are jobs with training<br />

⚫ You'll spend at least 20% of your time away from<br />

your job studying<br />

⚫ You’ll be paid (wages vary per apprenticeship)<br />

⚫ You can study all the way to degree level


How long does an apprenticeship<br />

usually take?<br />

This depends upon the type and level.<br />

It can vary from a minimum of one year<br />

up to four years.


VOCATIONAL.


What is a vocational qualification?<br />

⚫ Practical hands-on programme in a specific sector<br />

or trade designed by industry<br />

⚫ Cover lots of different areas including construction,<br />

digital, engineering, hair and beauty, healthcare,<br />

music and performing arts and sport<br />

⚫ Shaped around the technical skills employers need<br />

⚫ Studied over 1 or 2 years<br />
