so that we can resume on January 12 th via Brightspace Learning and on campus on January 22, 2021; starting the rotation for
Plans A and D, subject to the provisions and recommendations of the Ministry of Education of El Salvador.
We want to reaffirm as always, our commitment to the well-being and safety of our students, but also, we want to express
the need to work together as a community to achieve the objectives outlined in this new modality of teaching and
coexistence.
When we open the Campus again, we will have special protocols that include new procedures of the utmost importance:
• Temperature measurements
• Sanitation of all physical spaces - Before, during and after school

REOPENING PLAN | 6
OUR MISSION
To provide our students with tools, experiences, and challenges that instill moral courage,
develop their unique skills, and allow them to reach their full potential in a dynamic world.
OUR VISION
For all EA students to achieve their full potential and become a responsible global citizen.
WHOLE CHILD DEFINITION
The ideal EA whole child is an individual who, guided by our core values, and a clear sense of
self and well-being, seeks to become a responsible member of society, and an active global
citizen. The EA whole child will continually strive to improve, be reflective and inquisitive, be
accepting and respectful of others, and be genuinely inclined to serve their community. The
EA whole child is equipped with communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem
solving, informational literacy, and adaptability skills and a high level of self-efficacy; the
whole child is committed to achieve their full potential.
WHAT ARE WE DOING FOR
OUR 2020-2021 REOPENING?
We are developing actions that microbiologically ensure
the facilities of Escuela Americana to provide preventive
health to the entire academic, administrative, and
operational community.
REOPENING PLAN | 7
Escuela Americana accepts the commitment to place this
new prevention system as a strategic priority of the
institution, so that all the financial, logistical and material
resources necessary to protect the health of our
community are provided and we obtain the optimal
conditions that allow us to work together in the formation
of the whole child.
To achieve this, we elaborated a Reopening Plan in Phases,
which are nothing more than a consecutive logic of steps
focused from the scientific point of view of ensuring its
effectiveness.
This Reopening Plan is based on recommendations of
institutions and organizations for schools such as CDC,
ISM, NBOA, OSHA, among others, in addition to legislation
that governs educational centers and other workplaces.
It is important to emphasize that the reopening of our
Campus is subject to the provisions announced by the
Ministry of Education of El Salvador.

A multidisciplinary team has been formed with the participation of the Facilities Management Team that
includes the Environmental Health Department with its scientific-technical advisors, and the
Occupational Safety and Health Committee, who have worked on the identification of risks, necessary
actions, supporting documentation, human, financial, technical and logistical resources for the start-up.
The School Campus will be ready for reopening, and to guarantee that its conditions continue to be
optimal, we have drawn up a protocol for admission, coexistence and sanitation on Campus that includes
all the preventive measures with which it will work forward and which will serve as the basis to develop
an intense training day for our staff as well as a logistics of preparatory activities that aim to sanitize,
signal, equip and ensure the execution of protocols.
This preparatory phase will be carried out by the Cleaning Staff of the School, with the

REOPENING PLAN | 16
PREPARING OUR STUDENTS TO
COME BACK TO SCHOOL
At Escuela Americana we are committed to offering our students a "world class
education" where students participate in authentic learning experiences. This
commitment must be maintained even in difficult times such as the one we are
experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that affected the end of our
2019-2020 school year and that will continue to impact our near future. Therefore,
at EA we have taken the necessary considerations so that the lives of our students
are as safe as possible in terms of preventive health, microbiologically ensuring all
school facilities.
The more than 140 classrooms that EA has, apart from all other areas such as
Libraries, STEAM LABs, FAB-LAB and Science Laboratories will be subjected to
daily cleaning and disinfection processes with protocols specifically designed to
combat this pandemic, as well as the physical spaces of the aforementioned areas
have also been readjusted in order to keep the suggested physical distance to
minimize the risk of contagion (6 feet). Here is an image of some classrooms with
the new desk layout keeping the proper distance:

In some cases, prolonged physical distancing practices can be difficult to apply for certain
populations, such as very young children, who can hinder strict adherence to a six-foot distance
standard. This will require efforts to reorganize the school day and school operations to maintain
health and safety standards, and that is why all classrooms have been reorganized to accommodate
the appropriate number of students as shown in the image above. Below is a list of measures that
will be taken to ensure that the risk of COVID-19 contagion for our students at EA facilities is
minimal:
REOPENING PLAN | 19
SMALLER CLASSES
EA has small class sizes and
large classrooms. Class sizes of
9-15 students allow for a physical
distancing of 6 feet between
desks. In larger rooms, we can
accommodate more students.
EA has many large classrooms
and additional spaces for
student learning.
SCREENING OR
SCREENING TEST
Upon entering the EA facilities,
all students should undergo this
test to detect a possible health
problem or illness in someone
who has no signs or symptoms
yet. The purpose of this is early
detection; helping to reduce the
risk of contagion to other
students and timely treatment of
the affected student, applying
the protocol for suspected cases
of COVID-19 in the EA facilities.
MASKS
Students must arrive at school
wearing their mask and they
must wear it at all times on
campus. Parents must make
sure their children bring extra
masks each day. The school will
not provide masks for students
and any student without a mask
will not be allowed to attend
school that day.
REOPENING PLAN | 20
DIRECTIONAL TRAVEL
ON CAMPUS
The spaces where the students
will travel will have signage for
the directions they should travel.
Corridors and lobbies will show
the direction in which they
should walk and the distance
they should keep from each
other, as well as the areas that
will be restricted from use during
the pandemic.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
The students and all community
members will be required to
maintain a strict social
distancing protocol. EA will help
students understand this
protocol with video training,
spots on the floor and in
bathrooms and classrooms.
DIVIDED CLASS
SCHEDULING
Alternate days of the week offer
a way to limit the number of
students physically present on
campus at any given time,
making the necessary physical
distance easier.
*see Plan A
MONITORING OF ACCESS
TO EA FACILITIES
A constant monitoring of the
people who access our facilities
will be maintained, and only
strictly necessary visitors should
be allowed to enter, and all entry
protocols must be followed.
LUNCH AND SNACKS
Students must bring their
respective food from their
homes, we will not offer cafeteria
services to prevent contagion; at
the same time some students
must eat in the classrooms with
appropriate protocols to keep
the classroom clean.
TRAINING FOR STUDENTS
EA will provide up-to-date
education and training on risk
factors and protective behaviors
against COVID-19 to students,
providing them, by various
means, with pertinent
information related to the
prevention of infections,
adequate hygiene practices or
any other that is considered
appropriate. We will be sending
videos to students prior to any
reopening plan.
ALL FACULTY AND STAFF
WILL HAVE THE NECESSARY
AND ADEQUATE TRAINING
All Faculty and Staff will have the
necessary and adequate training
to carry out their work,
guaranteeing that our students
have the lowest risk of
contagion.
USE OF HAND WASHING
STATIONS, AND WATER
FOUNTAINS
EA will strategically locate
stations for hand washing.
Students will be advised to bring
their drinking water from home
but EA will install water bottle
fillers so that, with supervision of
adults, students will be able to fill
their bottles. Protocols for the
washing of hands and the
appropriate use of the water
bottle fillers will be enforced /
supervised.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS
Our students will need additional
emotional support due to all the
changes and restrictions that
COVID-19 is facing. EA has a
strong counseling program that
addresses the academic,
professional, social-emotional,
and global development of all
students. EA Counselors offer
personal guidance and support
to students from PK3 - 12 to
facilitate a clear understanding
of their personal, emotional,
social, and academic needs as
they mature and develop,
therefore, they are guaranteed
that our students assimilate in
the gentlest way to our new
reality.
DAILY DISINFECTION
School facilities will be
thoroughly disinfected daily
(even several times a day in
some of them) to prevent
transmission of the virus,
increasing staff as needed. In
addition, this includes after EA
Day Program & again
after EAX Program.
ALTERNATIVE PLANS FOR
EXTRACURRICULAR
PROGRAMS, SPORTS,
RECREATION, AND FITNESS
According to the limitations that
are due to this pandemic, some
of our programs will undergo
changes in their way of
development. EA will provide
students with alternative
proposals aimed at meeting their
needs in each of these areas.

PLAN B
MODIFIED FULL DAY SCHEDULE
(OPEN CAMPUS)
The modified full day schedule will happen once EA has successfully completed the blended
reintegration back onto our campus. We will evaluate our protocols and successes over the first two
months of school. If we are satisfied with our community following the social distancing and health
and safety protocols then we will begin to move to a full day program within our division schedules. It
is considered modified because once again - we will start with specific grades all day and then slowly
integrate the entire community if possible.
EA is fortunate to have a magnificent campus that has tremendous space that we can utilize so that
our students can be on campus, integrate with their peers and successfully follow the protocols. We
intend on using all of our resources and spaces to ensure safety for all students. We will use our
outdoor spaces and gymnasium to accommodate more students safely.
FULL DAY SCHOOL HOURS - ALL DIVISIONS

REOPENING PLAN | 28
PLAN C
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
(CLOSED CAMPUS DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS)
THIS MEANS THE GOVERNMENT OF EL SALVADOR, THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND
HEALTH HAVE CLOSED SCHOOLS.
Distance Learning is fully digital. Teaching is delivered through digital means, such as learning
platforms, videos, shared documents, and others.
The goal of any Distance Learning Program is to ensure learning continues in the event of school
closure. Our goal is to provide an enriching learning experience through a virtual format where the
teacher facilitates the direction while students independently extend their learning from their homes.
Our Brightspace Learning platform has been in place since the beginning of the school year. This is an
online teaching platform that all our teachers use to create their classrooms within. The students login
from home and have access to the teacher, all work, submit work, take quizzes and tests and are able
to interact with their classmates. Teachers hold classes via the platform and students are present in
the class with them.
EA Distance Learning is an all-online program, for all learners Prek-12, and is the most flexible option
for all learners during extended school closing. They have access to everything they need and their
teachers. For our youngest students - the teachers provide one:one teaching scheduled with parents.
This group does fun Specials as a group.
We offer our normal calendar of events - virtually.
EA’s strong belief in social emotional health is a part of our program. Our counseling staff supports the
various ages and stages of our learners as needed and all our teaching faculty will promote a healthy
balance of screen time lessons and assignments as outlined by the Academy of American Pediatrics
and the World Health Organization. The program is designed to increase independence for Elementary
& Secondary School students based on their ages.
PLAN C
DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
(CLOSED CAMPUS DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS)
For our youngest students, the Brightspace Learning platform require support in managing computer
usage oversight, but their home screen is icon-based so that they can easily access and recognize what
they are doing. We do not want parents to “do the work” for their children, as we need to make sure
they are learning at an appropriate pace. This platform help students (even our youngest) navigate
through.
RECOMMENDED SCREEN TIME
REOPENING PLAN | 29
SYNCHRONOUS
• Students can see each other
in real time
• Requires a fixed schedule
• Questions may be asked
immediately
• More similar to traditional
class setting
ASYNCHRONOUS
• Allows for pause and replay
of instructions
• Respects pace, time, and place
• Allows for more flexibility
• Allows students who are
experiencing difficulties (technical
or personal) to access material
• Fosters autonomy and
responsibility
This is not a homeschooling program! EA faculty are providing direct instruction via our long
standing curriculum and we will continue to do so.
FULL DAY SCHOOL HOURS - ALL DIVISIONS
8:00 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
For more information about Plan C, go to page 61
REOPENING PLAN | 30
PLAN D
FLEXIBLE PLAN / HYBRID FOR SPECIAL
CIRCUMSTANCES ONLY
EA is offering this option for families who do not want their children to return to campus because they
consider them at risk or a family member at home is in an at risk population. This is also available for
families who have not been able to return to El Salvador prior to school starting.
We have already made a commitment to continue remote learning for our international students via
Brightspace Learning who may not be able to join us for in-person instruction in January. We are
extending this opportunity to families in all divisions of the school, as long as COVID-19 remains a
concern in our community. Students whose families choose this option must stay with this plan for a
full quarter. At the end of the quarter, they will have the option to choose to continue with this plan or
go back to campus.
For more information about Plan D, go to page 62
VISITORS ON CAMPUS
Visitors must have a scheduled and approved appointment and registered at the security gate for
admittance to the campus. Upon scheduling the appointment, EA will give these guidelines to the
visitor. Identification will be given to the guard. It will be documented.
REOPENING PLAN | 31
All visitors must enter through the main gate (La Mascota and/or San Benito). Report any illness or illness
at home. If illness is reported or suspected, the visitor will be denied entrance.
All visitors must wear a mask. No mask, no entrance.
All visitors will have a temperature check. If the temperature is 97ºF - 99ºF (>100ºF no permitted)
36.5ºC - 37.5ºC (>37.5ºC no permitted)
Each visitor will use hand sanitizer.
Each visitor will be directed to wait in the Lobby of the school until met by the campus host and
must remain with their host during the entire visit
All visitors will respect physical distancing guidelines. No physical greeting hosts, acquaintances or
students. This is a dynamic situation and it is likely that things will continue to change. We will
continue to issue new information and guidance as appropriate.
Visitors are required to follow all EA rules while on campus.
Service provider visits will be arranged after school hours.
EA reserves the right to refuse any visitor for non compliance with security or no previously
scheduled appointment.
