BA IN BUSINESS
Our BA in Business is a one-of-a-kind program designed for
students who want to combine art, performance, fashion, or
social good with business savvy. We offer six concentrations
that prepare students for an array of successful careers,
ranging from art, theatre, and nonprofit administration to
marketing, management, and fashion.
ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION Our program
prepares you for a career as an influencer of consumer
communication and behavior. Upon graduation, you’ll be
fully equipped to take your career in any number of directions,
including advertising, public relations, or digital marketing.
ECONOMICS This globally-focused concentration is ideal
for students interested in learning how companies and nations
make economic decisions that affect consumers and citizens.
Our graduates pursue advanced degrees, work in global
industries, and serve international nonprofits.
FASHION MARKETING This business-focused
concentration will prepare you to understand the complexities
of the fashion industry. Learn how to develop, market, and
distribute fashion products to the right consumer, and how to
establish a socially responsible and sustainable business. Your
experience will be enriched by guest speakers, field visits to
companies, and events.
LEADERSHIP Learn to think critically about a business or
industry’s responsibility to employees, customers, communities,
and the environment. Internships and experiential learning will
equip you to assume a management-track role in a business,
nonprofit, NGO, or social service agency.
MEDIA AND ARTS MANAGEMENT Leverage your
passion for the performing arts or new media into a sustainable
career in the arts. Under NYC’s bright lights, you’ll have rich,
inspiring learning experiences. Take in performances, meet
with company directors, and complete challenging internships
at organizations both on and off Broadway and at other cultural
institutions.
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP Engage in a handson
program that puts technological and creative resources at
your disposal to successfully start your own social enterprise.
Whether your goal is an MBA, a job in venture capital,
managing a community organization, or becoming a serial
entrepreneur, you’ll develop the skills and experience to do
good and do well.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
“During my time
at MMC, I interned
at Clarins Group,
Lolabean Jewelry,
and at BAM
Communications.
The Business Division
at MMC did more
than just educate me and prepare me
for post-graduation; they encouraged
me to push myself to see my full
potential and follow my dreams. I am
forever grateful to have had such kind,
intelligent, and supportive mentors.
I applied and was accepted to three
graduate schools in London: Imperial
College London, King’s College
London, and Queen Mary’s University.
I will be attending Imperial College
London, ranked the #2 Master’s
program in Marketing in the world.”
— Madison Fortner ' 20
“Marymount
provided me with
an excellent cornerstone
for my artistic
endeavors, and
business aspirations.
The business
faculty transcended
the confines of
the classroom setting and became
cherished mentors long after I
graduated.” — Doug Makuta '12
Doug is an entrepreneur and musician who manages his
own band.
“MMC has really
fueled my passion
for the arts and my
desire to become a
leader in this industry.
Interning opened
my eyes to the
management world
of the performing
arts industry. In my final year, I was
the production management intern at
SPIKE TV and was offered a full-time
position upon graduation.”
FINANCE Students who major in Finance will learn how to plan, problem-solve, and work with other members of
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
“The faculty here really
strive to provide the best
learning experiences and
networking opportunities.
During my senior year,
I participated in the
Bloomberg Trading
Competition with several
peers, gaining handson
experience in trading and enhancing
my understanding of the financial market.
In addition, thanks to outstanding faculty
support, I was accepted to the graduate
program in Computer Science at Pace
University. I can hardly express how much I
appreciate everything MMC has given me.”
about the planning and organization it takes
to execute a project.”
STUDY ABROAD
Experience other cultures and
learn how business is conducted
in different parts of the world
by studying abroad at one of
our affiliated institutions or by
participating in a faculty-led travel
course. Our students have visited
and studied around the world
in countries including France,
Ireland, England, China, and
New Zealand.
“My dual BA degree coupled with
a minor in Asian Studies led me to
an internship in the Chinese Works
of Art department at Christie’s
Auction House and a semester
studying in China supported by the
Eisner Scholarship. My coursework
in Mandarin language and Chinese
work I did as an intern and, after
graduation, I accepted a permanent
position with Christie’s New York.”
