In the afternoon, the inducteesmet with more than 25innovative, entrepreneurialUNH students at the ECenter toshare their stories and engagein a round table discussion.Students were encouraged toask questions and seek adviceon the issues they face in thedevelopment of their ideas andbusinesses. The insights sharedby the inductees were hugelyimpactful to the students andthe discussion was a highlightof the day for the inductees.Said one inductee, “The qualityof ideas and students was sovery impressive. I neither hadthe fortitude nor the resourcesof the ECenter during myundergraduate time here. I wishI did.”least digitized industry, andThomas focusing on the allencompassingenergy problem– the cost, complexity, creation,and storage of energy – mused,“what could be more challenging?What could be more fun?”In his concluding remarks,President Jim Dean said, “Today,the Alumni Entrepreneur Hall ofFame invites us to honor thesefive inductees who exemplifynot only the excellence of aUNH education, but also thedownstairs to the HamiltonSmith Great Hall, where theyenjoyed a hosted reception,capping off a truly celebratoryevening.This year’s ceremony andcelebration ushered in asignificant change from lastyear. In 2018, the inauguralinduction of the Hall of Fame wasincorporated in UNHInnovation’sannual Innovators’ Dinner.Now in the second year, theHall of Fame celebrations wereFollowing the student discussionpanel was the Hall of Fameinduction ceremony. Nearly100 members of the UNHcommunity filled Hamilton SmithHall to hear from our alumniand celebrate at a receptionfollowing the ceremony. In thespirit of innovation, the inducteeswere tasked with a specifictopic for their acceptancespeeches. Rather than offeringthe traditional round of thanks,they instead had to outline aproblem they see in the worldand address the steps thatUNH students and communitymembers can take to solve it.The speeches spanned a broadrange of topics, with Christineaddressing the challenges andinequality facing new parentsreturning to the workplace,Les discussing the decline inproductivity stemming fromconstruction being the second25Inductee Thomas Hazel with his mentees, student start-up ecoTextremarkable things that ourgraduates can achieve with it.”He noted that, “Through theirvision, their talent, and theirhard work – and a lot of longhours – they create tremendousopportunities. Today, we honorthem for showing the worldwhat a UNH education makespossible.”Following the inductionceremony, guests movedmade independent to givean appropriate weight to theoccasion and celebrate themomentous achievements of ouralumni.Nominations for the 2020 AlumniEntrepreneur Hall of Fame areopen until December 1, 2020.Due to COVID-19 precautions,the 2020 Induction has beenpostponed until Homecomingweekend in 2021.
