Wednesday 24 th November Ladies Played a 9 hole single stableford event, back 9. Winner was Judie Marschke 19 points, runner up Manuela Laycock 18 points. Enid’s NTP no 13 Rhonda Carroll. Had 2 wins but not enough score to bring home the bacon. No bowls were played at home on Thursday. Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, Gerrit Winkeler , Len Smyth and Tom Allen together with a substitute player Alan, took part in The Esk 4’s - $2000.00 Championship over 2 days. We were good enough to take out our first game but came up against some tough opposition. Regardless we had a great time. Thanks Esk for the invite. Also on Sunday at home Cindy Mills, Ian Bradow and Keith McWhirter defeated Wayne Thompson, John Greany and Lyn McWhirter in a game of triples. Raffle finally went to Ian Bradow with the spoils shared. Special Note’s On Friday 4th December the Queensland Caravan Club will be visiting us for a game. We need a few helpers on the day. Play will be 12.00pm for 12.30pm start. If you can play , all the better. Also on that day the Toogoolawah State School Staff will be having a roll up from about 3.30 pm. Christmas raffle consisting of 30 prizes will be drawn on the day. Tickets have been left in the clubhouse and will be sold on the day. ATTENTION BOWLERS: Advising all players that the ladies are aware of the very high temperatures predicted for this Wednesday. The day will be organised to suit the conditions and no one will be subjected to extreme conditions. It is the biggest day of the year for us with all the Christmas raffle prizes. There will be other activities to entertain us if necessary. Great Effort Wednesday November 25: Ladies Day Raffle winners: Alan Cameron, Peter Barnes and Anita Dunning Drawn Winners: Lehmann Esk & District Junior Cricket Ernst Gomsi and Steve ESK 2 The Tigers were on the road on Saturday playing against Helidon. The Tigers won the toss and Brodie who was Captain chose to bat first. Jai and Nate opened the batting for the team and scored 9 and 6 respectively. Billy was in next and had a very good innings top scoring with a well-played 41 which included a few six's and fours , Isaac joined him and added 20 runs to form a good partnership between the two batsmen. Joe had another good innings with the bat scoring a well-earned 31. Brodie added 15 to the tally with some very good shot selections , Dean backed that up with 6 and Griffin closed out the innings with 9. A good innings by the Tigers for the loss of only four wickets. A short drinks break and the Tigers took to the field as the morning started to warm up. The Helidon batsmen got off to a good start but as the innings progressed the Tigers bowlers managed to reduce the run rate. Nate , Isaak , Brodie and Griffin each took one wicket , included in that were some very good run outs. It was a very evenly matched game on a very hot day and a big effort by the players , however in the end Helidon got the win by just three runs. Esk and District Tigers 4 - 140 Helidon 4 - 143. Player of the match was Billy top scoring with 41 and some economical bowling figures of 0-16. One more game next week before the school holidays break and a well earned rest for the kids. The Tigers will be at home in Toogoolawah. Great effort by the kids and thanks to all the parents that helped on the day. Esk1 had yet another home game this week against Gatton Fordsdale. Sam was captain for the day and after attending the toss we were sent into bat. A changeup in the batting order saw Carter and Paul open the batting. Carter thrived scoring a rapid fire 20 runs. Paul (4) was a brick wall in defence as usual keeping the Gatton bowlers at bay. Pip was next to the crease and she meant business, hitting her first three deliveries for four to finish up with 23 runs. Next up was Maddie who was on debut. Maddie was like a rabbit between the wickets running 11 singles. The ever reliable Grace (12), Sam (6) an Holly (12)followed. Poppy also on debut wasn’t going to outdone by her sister. Poppy hit three fours off the cone to reach a great score of 17. Louis hit two sixes on his way to 27 and Ben (24) gave us the big finish we needed to end up with 5/156. Captain of the day Sam opened the bowling and kept things tight. Our fielding was on fire with Carter, Ben and Louis all claiming run outs. The game was in the balance with a few overs to go until Grace answered the call with two wickets in her last over. Louis followed this up with another two wickets in hisn last over including taking middle stump out of the ground with the last delivery of the match. We had got home by restricting Gatton to 8/120. Pip was named player of the match for her great batting and fielding. A big thankyou to all the parents for helping throughout the morning. This week is our last game before we break for Summer holidays. We take on Forest Hill at their home ground. Lets hope it’s not too hot!
