On our adventure, we took
part in a variety of excursions,
including taking in the sights of
Antigua by visiting the stunning
Shirley Heights and learning about
its cultural history at Nelson’s
Dockyard. In San Juan, we donned
our walking shoes and went on an
immersive walking tour through
the Old Town and learnt how
the piña colada was invented (it
would be rude not to sample one
or two as well!) In Barbados, we
enjoyed its famous pristine beaches
and snorkelled with turtles and
other flora and fauna in the coral
reefs. Feeling a little more active,
we also kayaked through tropical
mangroves in St. Thomas. As you
can see there’s no lack of choice
to feed the mind, body and soul,
depending on your preferences.
Viking’s ocean ships are some
of the most stunning and fabulous
spaces, whether on land or at sea.
They exude a comfortable scandichic,
and are well-suited to a variety
of destinations. But for me, it is in
a warm climate that I find these
ships come into their own. Imagine
enjoying dinner with a locally
inspired menu al fresco on the
Aquavit Terrace watching the sunset
over St. Martin. Or how about
enjoying a Norwegian breakfast in
I feel it is important as a traveller to
learn all about the places you visit, the
good, the bad and the ugly
Mamsen’s in the Explorers’
Lounge while sailing into a new
port-of-call?
The Caribbean has something
for everyone and will always be at
the top of my list of places to visit
again and again. Every visit brings
new and exciting experiences.

HIGHLIGHT: THE KITCHEN TABLE
This optional excursion sees you venture off the
ship with one of the on-board chefs to explore
and learn about the local markets and produce.
Then, upon returning to the ship, you will spend
time in the exclusive Kitchen Table space – an
interactive kitchen area and culinary school –
where you cook and prepare a meal together
using these ingredients alongside the on-board
chefs. It was thoroughly enjoyable and I cannot
recommend this experience enough.
