months – 8 years.

Activities this year have included:

• Mud play

• Story time

• Christmas decorating

• Birthday parties

• Messy play

• Children in Need

Fundraiser

• Arts and Crafts

• Fancy dress

• Music and

movement

• Water play

We also introduced new measures to the Nursery as a

response to Covid-19 in line with Government Guidance to

keep children, staff and parent’s safe.

absolutely loved this

week and is raring to

go to see you in the

morning! Thank you for

such a warm welcome”

really enjoyed

his birthday

party and was

so happy”

“Thank you all so

sons last day and the

last couple of years so

enjoyable for him and

14

Our Venues

Our Shops and Bars teams have continued their great work

this year, providing a great experience for our students and

in turn, helping us to finance our campaigns, support services

and opportunities.

We employ hundreds of students to work at our venues to

gain a range of skills flexibly around their studies.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 and in line with Government

guidelines, our venues temporarily closed in March 2020, with

the exception of our Costcutter Supermarket as an essential

store.

15

This year, following Officer Campaigns around sustainability

and feedback from our students, we became the first Uni in

Wales to open a Zero-Waste store on campus!

We first started the journey with a crowdfunding campaign,

and all those who contributed have had their own leaf on our

tree of life as a thank you.

In October 2019, students and staff were invited to join us for

the opening celebrations and a sneak peek of the store.

The store sells a range of ethically sourced and

environmentally friendly products in reusable bags and

storage jars, as well as Haystack bakery cakes and vegan

sweets.

It has proved popular with students, staff and visitors – with

other SU’s taking a keen interest with plans of their own to

open similar stores.

16

Our Costcutter store remained open during the Covid-19

lockdown, providing a very important service to the campus

and resident communities. It also acted as a library book

drop point, foodbank collection point and the team also

delivered free food packets to Singleton and Morriston NHS

Hospitals for key workers.

Emma, our store manager and the team were also praised

with a letter of thanks from Reverend Heinies Jones of Siloam

Baptist Church. Volunteers from the church delivered food

donated from the store to the staff at the Hospitals.

‘Not only have you given so generously, but you have done

so continually! The effort your staff have put into identifying,

sorting and packaging food has been incredible. This clearly

demonstrates your amazing commitment to helping others’.

17

This year, our Swansea Uni clothing shop sold:

1,500 1,000 400

twin packs

hoodies

sweatshirts

We also grew the brand and launched fultonoutfitters.co.uk

so that our students could still shop with us from home!

18

Our healthy food store Root sold:

9,050

hot food

boxes

3,300

salad boxes

11,800

drinks

2,900

bowls of soup

We also rebranded the store to help promote our vegan

and vegetarian offer more clearly for our students, staff and

visitors!

Organised Freshers Fayre’

and Arrivals Weekend on

both campuses to greet and

welcome our new students

Hosted a week of club

Ein Bariau a Siopau

Mae timau ein Siopau a Bariau wedi parhau â’u gwaith

gwych eleni, gan ddarparu profiad gwych i’n myfyrwyr

ac yn ei dro, ein helpu i ariannu ein hymgyrchoedd, ein

gwasanaethau cymorth a’n cyfleoedd.

Rydym yn cyflogi cannoedd o fyfyrwyr i weithio yn ein bariau

a siopau i ennill ystod o sgiliau yn hyblyg o amgylch eu

hastudiaethau.

Yn anffodus, oherwydd Covid-19 ac yn unol â chanllawiau’r

Llywodraeth, caeodd ein bariau a siopau dros dro ym mis

Mawrth 2020, ac eithrio ein Harchfarchnad Costcutter gan ei

bod yn siop hanfodol.

15

Eleni, yn dilyn Ymgyrchoedd y Swyddogion ynghylch

cynaliadwyedd ac adborth gan ein myfyrwyr, ni oedd y Brifysgol

gyntaf yng Nghymru i agor siop Dim Gwastraff ar y campws!

Dechreuon ni’r daith gyntaf gydag ymgyrch cyllido torfol, ac

mae pawb a gyfrannodd wedi derbyn eu deilen eu hunain ar

ein coeden bywyd fel diolch.

Ym mis Hydref 2019, gwahoddwyd myfyrwyr a staff i ymuno â ni

ar gyfer y dathliadau agoriadol a chael cipolwg o’r siop.

Mae’r siop yn gwerthu ystod o gynhyrchion o ffynonellau

moesegol ac ecogyfeillgar mewn bagiau y gellir eu

hailddefnyddio a jariau storio, yn ogystal â chacennau becws

Haystack a losin fegan.

Mae wedi profi’n boblogaidd ymhlith myfyrwyr, staff ac

ymwelwyr - gydag UM eraill yn cymryd diddordeb brwd gyda

chynlluniau eu hunain i agor siopau tebyg.

16

Roedd ein siop Costcutter ar agor yn ystod cyfnod cloi

Covid-19, gan ddarparu gwasanaeth pwysig iawn i’r campws a

chymunedau preswylwyr.

Roedd hefyd yn fan gollwng ar gyfer y llyfrgell, man casglu

ar gyfer banciau bwyd ac roedd y tîm hefyd yn dosbarthu

pecynnau o fwyd am ddim i Ysbytai GIG Singleton a Morriston

ar gyfer gweithwyr allweddol. Cafodd Emma, rheolwr y siop, a’r

tîm eu canmol gyda llythyr o ddiolch gan y Parchedig Heinies

Jones o Eglwys Bedyddwyr Siloam. Roedd gwirfoddolwyr o’r

eglwys yn mynd â bwyd o’r siop i staff yr ysbytai.

‘Nid yn unig ydych chi wedi rhoi yn hael, ond rydych chi wedi

gwneud hynny’n barhaus! Mae’r ymdrech y mae eich staff

wedi’i gwneud i gydnabod, trefnu a phecynnu bwyd wedi

bod yn anhygoel. Mae hyn yn dangos yn glir eich ymrwymiad

anhygoel i helpu eraill.’
