Funding the university of their choice can be an issue<br />
for some young people. We find this with those who<br />
come to us from our outreach program and join our Sixth<br />
Form on a scholarship, based on an academic selective<br />
exam, or a bursary based on a means-tested assessment<br />
of their family’s income. To help these students we have<br />
set up a small group of local business people to provide<br />
some additional funding for life after Babington, so they<br />
can make the most of their university experience.<br />
The outstanding independent schools with small, excellent<br />
Sixth Forms are very well run and very well resourced and<br />
they also really know their students. The secret to their<br />
success is to provide clear, accurate and targeted advice<br />
and support to their pupils and parents, mixed in with a<br />
generous seasoning of aspiration and first class teaching.<br />
