Magic Castle
Congratulations to Hever Castle and
its visitors, who raised more than
£13,000 over the Christmas
period. Great Ormond Street
Home
Learning
Hospital (GOSH) Children’s
Charity was chosen to
benefit from ticket sales,
as the grounds had a Peter
Pan themed trail at the
time (pictured above) and
JM Barrie, the author of
Peter Pan, left the rights to
it to GOSH in 1929. Visitors
were given the opportunity
to donate to GOSH Charity
when prebooking tickets online
and special Peter Pan or Tinkerbell
cookies were sold in aid of the charity
at the takeaway food outlets on site.
Although Hever is now closed to the public, you can still get your castle
Round & Round the Garden
A garden isn’t just for summer. So many of us
dug out the gardening gloves last year, and for
those looking to keep up their garden pride, find
inspiration or get advice, Surrey Gardens Trust’s
Winter Lectures are a great resource that you can
access from home, over Zoom for just £6 per
lecture. On selected Saturdays from 16 January to
24 April, garden experts including Sir Roderick
Floud, Michael Thurlow, and Susan Campbell,
will be sharing their wealth of knowledge on
such topics as kitchen gardens, cutting
gardens, and houseplants.
Nourish Yourself
With many families juggling working from
home with childcare, it can be easy to slip
into unhealthy eating habits, especially
when time is in short supply. With this in
mind, COOK has created four free balanced
diet weekly meal planners which mix their
much-loved frozen meals with suggestions
for dishes to make yourself at home. Find
them at cookfood.net/blog/meal-planners
Look Forward: Mother’s Day
Let’s forget the doom and gloom and celebrate mums! Their
doors may be shut for now, but a whole host of boutiques
across the South East have taken their clothes and accessories
online. Some of our favourites include Odyl, Cordelia James,
Duck & Dog, Blue Velvet Shoes and Birdie London, many
of whom are popping videos of their stock onto social media
platforms like Instagram for a new shopping experience.
Handpick some cosy new cashmere or gorgeous jewels to
make sure mum’s special day doesn’t pass unnoticed.
