Bears to deliver Project Rugby webinars.
First team players from Bristol Bears and Bristol Bears Women
have joined forces with the Community Foundation and
Premiership Rugby’s Project Rugby programme to deliver a
series of webinars to young people in the city.
Bears stars will cover topics such as ‘rugby and class’, ‘disability
and rugby’, ‘black players and rugby’ and ‘women in rugby’ with
young people on the club’s Project Rugby scheme.
Community Development Manager, Craig Capel, said: “Project
Rugby exists to provide increasing opportunities for young
people from disadvantaged communities, Black, Asian and Ethnic
Minority groups and disabled people to engage in rugby union
and has seen community colleagues work with over 4,000 young
players since 2017.
“European glory, Premiership play offs, five wins from the first
six this season, international quality across the squad - Bristol
is again now a rugby city with the players and staff contributing
positively to the vision of ‘inspiring a community through rugby
success.’
“There is little doubt in my mind that the club is helping the
Foundation to reach more people than ever before, even during
a global pandemic!
“I’m very excited about extending our reach further with
the launch of a series of live webinars that will explore the
experiences of our players across themes relevant to Project
Rugby.
“I hope hearing our players talking candidly about both positive
and negative experiences they have faced whilst forging a
career in our game will inspire even more to get involved and
enjoy all there is to enjoy about our magnificent game.”
