MURAL TIDBITS
The mural titled Jennie Reninger- A Remarkable Woman is a beautiful mural
that depicts Ms. Reninger on a rearing horse with whip in hand, herding cattle.
It is located at 113 South Main Avenue, on the side of the Personal Rehab, Inc.
Building. This mural is fifty feet wide by ten feet high. It was painted by Mr.
Roger Cooke in January of 2004, and sponsored by Personal Rehab, Inc., Vivian
Zimmerman, Jean and Grady Parrish, and the Lake Placid Historical Society.
Ms. Reninger was indeed a remarkable woman. She and her family lost
everything during the depression, but she did not let that stop her from
becoming a successful woman. She wrote a popular newspaper column, hosted
a radio program, and founded the Easter Lily industry in lake Placid. And those
things are just a few of her many accomplishments. She lived to be 94 years old
on her 63-acre ranch known as Green Pastures.
If you are out looking at the Mural, look for a freighter, a typewriter and a
bucking bull as well as a vehicle.
