Board after three years of active
service. Personnel changes were
also reported by the Crop Section
Fruit, who elected Mrs. An van den
new Chairwoman and thanked the
founding Chair Mrs. Dominique
Fresh fodder for the
brain - IP from beyond
our own backyard
Sometimes a brief glance from
outside of one’s box can serve as a
productive source of inspiration.
The main motivation for CIOPORA
to organize the Open Part of its
AGM was to provide the members
and guests with insights into the
IP practices “beyond their own
backyard”. This year the Open Part
touched upon two “close” and one
external topic: the specifics of the
application of the Nagoya protocol
Fruit & Ornamental tours
On April 3, at 6 a.m., the early
CIOPORA birds boarded the
buses to explore a number of very
interesting locations in the regions
of Aalsmeer and Wageningen. The
business excursion ornamentals
went on a tour through all the
parts of floricultural supply chain,
including the freight forwarder
IPHandlers, the flower auction
FloraHolland and the floral
wholesaler Waterdrinker, whereas
the fruit-interested colleagues
could see and taste the delicious
creations by the strawberry breeder
In the afternoon both groups
rejoined at Naktuinbouw, where
they were warmly welcomed by
the General Manager Mr. John
van Ruiter and his colleagues.
CIOPORA would like to express
its gratitude to all the hosts of the
business tour 2014, which without a
doubt became one of the highlights
of the CIOPORA events 2014.
