These are blended learning courses. A majority of coursework is done on the computer, and thehands-on skills are practiced in the classroom. Participants will receive the online learning link after registering for the class.Once the online course is finished, participants will call 249-7705 to schedule a 1:1 hands on session with Liz or Melissa.50+ MILE CLUBDesigned for individuals who like to challenge themselvesParticipants track their lap swimming and receive special recognitionfor meeting the 50, 100, and All-Star (150+ miles) milemark. There is no additional cost to belong to this club.Call the Rec Center at 249-7705 for more information.3RD ANNUAL RECREATIONALSWIM TEAM 4118025Back by popular demand, MRD is bringing back the recreational swim team.This is an opportunity for your child to learn team dynamics, challenge themselvesphysically, and have fun. This is for individuals who have passed Level 4swim lessons, or can swim a minimum of 75 yards of front crawl, back stroke,breast stroke, or a combination. Participants will develop confidence in strokessuch as the front crawl, breast stroke and butterfly. The basics of turning at thewall, as well as using the starting blocks will be included. Endurance will be aprimary focus as participants prepare for a meet at the end of the summer.Days: Tue & ThurSession 1: June 7-July 1Session 2: July 12-Aug 5Fee: $60 for one session or $100 for bothTime: 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.Swim Meet: August 7WATER SAFETY AWARENESSSCAVENGER HUNTSummer is around the corner and May is WaterSafety Awareness month. Throughout themonth, children can come by the CRC to geta clue card to find water safety tips postedaround our parks and facilities. Once all thesafety tips are found, children can join theirparents at the Field House pool opening day -Friday May 28th for a free swim and prizes.Date: Friday, May 1st-May 28thAges: 5-12Time: May 28th 11-4 pmPrice: FreeLIFEGUARD TRAINING 1103016Learn all the skills necessary to become a professional lifeguardThis course teaches CPR, First Aid and all the rescue techniques.This class is offered to individuals 15 years and older. This will be ablended learning course with instruction both online, and in the pool.Participant must be available to attend all in-person training sessions.Required pre-test is a 300 meter swim (12 lengths), two minutewater tread without hands and retrieving a ten pound brick fromthe bottom of the pool 9 feet or deeper.Location: Montrose CommunityRecreation CenterNEW REDUCED FEE: $50Date/Time: Wed June 2 - Course Orientation 5:00-6:00 pmSaturday June 5, 8:30am - 1:00pmSunday June 6, 8:30am- 1:00pmMonday June 7, 8:30am - 3:30pmA waitlist will be maintained for a possible class to be held in August.Contact Liz or Melissa for more information.KAYAKS, SCUBA, AND PADDLEBOARDSThe CRC allows allows clean kayaks, paddleboards, and scubaequipment into the pool for practice sessions.
