Fashion Class of 2021 Showcase Book

Making a Statement with Style! Whilst the majority of other Design Universities remain online with digital collections, Marbella Design Academy Fashion graduates of June 2021 stepped out in style with a live Fashion Catwalk event at the Academy on Friday 7 May. Attended by a select audience of local industry leaders and media, and a few close family and friends, the Fashion students showed their final collections under the beautiful blue sunny sky of Andalucia. Taking advantage of the open spaces of the Academy´s beautiful terrace, the models showed off the creations at this much anticipated event. It was a considerable achievement and a fitting culmination to three years of study, facing down the challenges of the pandemic. The Academy was determined to maintain tuition schedules and access to workshop facilities and resources as far as possible, so that students could produce and show a physical final collection. We are incredibly proud of all of our Fashion students; they have all been working extremely hard in the fashion studios at the Academy, supported by our fantastic team of dedicated Fashion tutors. As the Fashion business, a core industry of our modern society, tackles post pandemic challenges, our Fashion students have shown that with passion anything is still possible and that they are more than ready to join this professional world. Well done to all involved!

Dahlia
It is a feminine proposal for the next spring / summer.
The collection is inspired by Victorian aesthetics, through which
various elements such as volumes and ruffles have been selected
to translate it into the garments, with the idea of creating very
feminine, elegant but casual garments at the same time.
Tales of
Hope
The collection is a gender free collection made of sustainable,
recycled and eco-friendly materials.
Its prints and fabric manipulations have got their direct
inspiration from humpback whales. Unfortunately, commercial
fishing, cargo shipping and people’s indifference are threats to
whales and oceans. This fact gives the serious and fragile mood
for the collection. The deep ocean gave the tones which are rich
but neutral like the garments itself.
Wabi-Sabi
A stand against the relentless pursuit of perfection, a tacit
appreciation of things imperfect. Women’s ready-to-wear
collection, a feminine touch with asymmetrical silhouettes
instigating the peace in imperfections whilst un-wounding the
whirlpool of negative thoughts. While encouraging acceptance
and seeing the beauty in things flawed, the neutral earthy tones
and colours retain the carefree commonplace making the pieces
a reflection of virtues of the wearer.
The adults are talking is a collection inspired by love letters and
nostalgia taking elements from the past and modernizing it to an
elegant fit combined with street style. The collection represents
the beauty of heartbreak and learning how to deal with grief,
growth and new beginnings.
gardenFeminine proposal for the following Spring/Summer. Secret
Garden collection is inspired by the giant Gardens of the
Rococo times where people used to spend most of their time
playing, dating or meeting with their lovers secretly. Romantic
but mysterious collection is made of rich silky fabrics and floral
Birce Koçer
that lives is
dying
A unisex/menswear collection exploring the distortion and
deformities of human body, male nudity and the rejection
of the classical norms of beauty basically focused on the art
and psychology of Egon Schiele. The collection is featuring
bizarre, exaggerated and sexually suggestive silhouettes with
asymmetrical stitches, unproportionally lines and cracked
finishing completed with mostly sombre colours that depicting
sickness, inner-self, frustration and angst.
Off the grid
The 90’s fashion aesthetics generated a unisex collection that
creates unity, clarity and enlightenment. This gathering is a rapid
flow of emotions that are interpreted into sophisticated garments
to reassure a relatable viewpoint of life itself. Applying the 90’s
techno and post-punk music as inspiration as well as the 1997
film “Nowhere”. This collection is for all the melomaniacs who
can´t run away from the sound of their speakers in desire to lose
control and dance!
The colour
Diana Dillner
of illusion is
perfect blue
Feminine proposal for the following Spring / Summer. Perfect
blue is inspired by the 90’s movie with the same name, is an
allegory made to the constant exploration of perception of
our identity, sexuality and beauty. It remains us that there are
perfect days, that even if it rains or not (meaning that there are
problems or not) you can have a day since the sky is perfect blue
that encourages you to keep living.
Mahtab Kalaee
Jardin de
fleurs
This is a Spring/Summer collection inspired by Impressionism
where artists look at the world with freshness and immediacy that
represents light after darkness. The designer channels Covid-19
related mentalities, difficulties and predicts the bright future
where everyone will spend more time in natural surroundings
and connect once again with Mother Nature. The Impressionists
mastered light and colour and left their studios behind to
experience painting in the nature and to achieve an intense
impression of the open air (plein air) in a landscape painting.
