AGM reveals finances in better health<br />

with more streamlined association<br />

The MSA GB 86th Annual<br />

General Meeting was held<br />

on 21st March by video<br />

call as part of the National<br />

Conference. The minutes are<br />

published here.<br />

1. Chairman’s Welcome<br />

The Chairman opened the 86TH AGM<br />

at 4.35pm and welcomed members. He<br />

explained that there would be a number<br />

of polls carried out during the meeting<br />

and encouraged members to take part.<br />

2. Convening Notice<br />

The Deputy National Chairman Mr<br />

Geoff Little read out the Formal Notice of<br />

meeting.<br />

3. Apologies<br />

Apologies were received from Mr David<br />

Taylor (South East), Mr David Wilkinson<br />

(West Midlands), Mrs Lynn Atkinson, Mr<br />

Liam Baird and Mr Garry Duggan (all<br />

Scotland) and Ms Pat Rowell (North<br />

West).<br />

4. Adoption of Previous Minutes<br />

Minutes of 2020 AGM, held virtually<br />

on 20th July 2020, were proposed by<br />

Mr Karl Satloka (North East) and<br />

seconded by Mr John Lomas (North<br />

West). Carried with 92% For and 8%<br />

Abstaining<br />

the year. He thanked the members for<br />

their loyalty throughout the year and<br />

advised that there is a membership<br />

recruitment campaign planned for May.<br />

The Annual Report was proposed by<br />

Mrs Karen Macleod (Scotland) and<br />

seconded by Mr Colin Lilly (Western).<br />

8. Board Chairman<br />

The Deputy Chairman said he was<br />

pleased to report that the Board had<br />

voted Mr Peter Harvey MBE back in for<br />

another term as Chairman. The chairman<br />

went on to thank the board, and<br />

members for their support.<br />

9. Board Deputy Chairman<br />

The Chairman informed members of<br />

the Board’s decision to continue with Mr<br />

Geoff Little as Deputy National Chairman<br />

for this year.<br />

10. Board of Management<br />

The Chairman introduced the Board of<br />

Management for <strong>2021</strong>/22.<br />

North East: Mr Mike Yeomans<br />

North West: Mr Graham Clayton<br />

East Midlands: Ms Kate Fennelly<br />

West Midlands, South Wales: Mr Geoff<br />

5. Matters Arising<br />

There were no matters arising.<br />

6. Adoption of Financial Statement<br />

The Chairman gave the Financial<br />

report for the year ending 30th<br />

November 2020. He explained that the<br />

association’s finances are looking<br />

healthier now than in the previous year<br />

due to the high costs of the<br />

administration office move in the<br />

previous year. The financial statement<br />

was proposed by Mr Arthur Mynott<br />

(Western) and seconded by Mrs Fenella<br />

Wheeler (South East). Carried with 96%<br />

For and 4% Abstaining.<br />

7. Adoption of the Annual Report<br />

The Chairman reported that the board<br />

had continued to meet virtually during<br />

11. Motion from the Board of<br />

Management<br />

The Chairman proposed that Moore<br />

Kingston Smith LLP be elected our<br />

accountants and independent inspectors<br />

for the year <strong>2021</strong>/22.<br />

Proposed by Mr Peter Harvey and<br />

Carried with 100% For<br />

12. Meeting Close<br />

The Chairman asked if anyone had any<br />

questions on what had been discussed<br />

during the AGM, for which there was<br />

none.<br />

He then closed the meeting and invited<br />

attendees to stay on the call for a general<br />

Q&A session after the AGM closed, if<br />

they so wished.<br />

The chairman closed the meeting at<br />
