Historical context<br />
It is certainly interesting and enjoyable to learn about the life and times of authors and<br />
other artists. The more we learn about them, the more we understand their work. All<br />
kinds of experiences and factors affect the creative process. By examining some of the<br />
following, we can place a text in its historical context:<br />

letters, diary entries and autobiographical writings of the author<br />

the place or event that inspired the text<br />
