SUMMER 2021 PROGRAM BOOK
COVER ART BY ART OF MAZZY

SACANIME RETURNS
It’s been a very rough couple of years for everyone. For SacAnime, the Sacramento Convention Center underwent a
remodel, forcing us to relocate to Cal Expo. Our first SacAnime at Cal Expo (Winter 2020) went well. We had good
attendance numbers and there weren’t any major problems. Holding SacAnime at Cal Expo definitely had a few
negative aspects, but there were positive aspects as well. Then of course, COVID-19 hit and SacAnime was forced to
cancel the Summer 2020 show. Since then it’s been a roller coaster ride. SacAnime Winter 2021 (@ Roseville’s the
Grounds) was postponed to April 2021, making it our first ever SacAnime Spring event. It went fairly well, considering it
was only a swap meet, with exhibitors and a few guests but without any panels, a cosplay masquerade, etc.
SacAnime Summer 2021. The Sacramento (SAFE Credit Union) Convention Center is complete, but COVID is still
running wild. After many different mandates and guidelines, the convention dates draw near. Masks are required
inside and all attendees over the age of 11 must be completely vaccinated or have had a negative test within the past
72 hours. We are not requiring proof of this because we trust our attendees to do the right thing and because any
events held before September 20, 2021 are not mandated to do so. Preventing our registration lines from becoming
overwhelmed is more important than catching the very small percentage of people who are trying to cheat the system.
Have a fun convention. Stay safe. Hopefully the next one will happen during better times.
J. MICHAEL TATUM
Nurtured on anime classics from the tender age of Star
Blazers, et al, this reclusive actor/writerspent more years
than he cares to remember in what might charitably be
called free-fall before landing, mostly by accident, smack
dab on the industry of his dreams. To this day, some believe
the small crater made by the impact remains the source
of his power.
Cast as Rikichi in 2005’s Samurai 7, Tatum’s inexplicable
luck has held long enough to see his flag hoisted on a slew
of dream roles, most notably Kyoya Otori in Ouran High
School Host Club, suave, demonic Sebastian Michaelis in
Black Butler, France in the Hetalia franchise,Tomoe from
Kamisama Kiss, and the equal parts maniacal/vulnerable
Okarin Rintarou from Steins;Gate. More recently, Tatum
can be heard in the epic My Hero Academia as Teyna Iida.
no Ou, Ghost Hunt, School Rumble, The Tower of Druaga,
Aquarion, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, Shuffle, Shigurui,
Glass Fleet, Mushishi, Soul Eater, along with feature- length
films such as Vexille, Summer Wars, Dragon Age: Dawn of
the Seeker, and Empire of Corpses, among many others.
His videogame credits include Sir Hammerlock from the
Borderlands franchise, Julius Kresnik from Tales of Xillia
2, Mr. Foster from Killing Floor 2, Kelvin and Pendles from
Battleborn, and fifteen playable characters from SMITE.
And as if being involved with so many awesome shows
wasn’t enough, in late 2007 the fluky so-and-so tempted
fate by officially branching out into ADR directing and
adaptive scriptwriting. His ADR directing credits to
date include Aquarion, Jyu-oh-Sei, Romeo X Juliet, Big
Windup, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne andShikabane
Hime (Corpse Princess), while his writing credits include
substantial work on Ouran High School Host Club, Heroic
Age, Initial D, Blassreiter, Ga Rei: Zero, Hero Tales, Legend
of the Legendary Heroes, Fractale, Deadman Wonderland,
Steins;Gate, Assassination Classroom, Dragon Ball Z
Kaiand Attack on Titan.
Other characters the man still can’t believe he’s had the
crazy good fortune to play include: Doumeki in XXXHolic,
Jiro Mochizuki in Black Blood Brothers, Isaac Dian
in Baccano!, both God Eneru and Dalton in One Piece,
Komui Lee in D-Gray Man, Dororo in Sgt. Frog, the titular
loveable savage of Heroic Age, Ryosuke Takahashi in Initial
D, Lawrence Kraft in Spice and Wolf, Zarbon in Dragon Ever the workaholic, Tatum is currently burning the midnight
Ball Z Kai, and Scar in Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. oil on a number of exciting projects due for release later
His vocal “stylings,” much to the chagrin of drama teachers this year. And before you ask, the “J” stands for… Well, it
everywhere, he’s sure, have also been featured
stands for whatever you’d like it to.
AUSTIN TINDLE
Austin Tindle is an american actor. His birth was foretold by a swallow, in a remote location in Orlando, Florida. At the
moment he burst forth from the womb a new star formed and illuminated the sky, the seasons suddenly changed from
winter to spring and a double rainbow appeared. At three weeks old he had learned to walk and by eight weeks he was
talking. His voice over career began soon after. He was raised in Austin, Texas, which was retroactively named after him. He
has since voiced many characters in English dubbed anime including: Ken Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul), Marco Bodt (Attack on
Titan), Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom), Neito Monoma (My Hero Academia), Avilio Bruno (91 Days), Seborgia
(Hetalia), Raspberry (Dragon Ball Z), Accelerator (A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun), Ichirohiko (The
boy and the Beast). You can also hear him voicing leading roles in many other shows including: Is This a Zombie, Guilty
Crown, D-Frag, Gonna Be The Twin-Tail, Prince Of Stride, Prison School, Tamo No-Rin, ACCA, Maria the Virgin Witch, Snow
White with the Red Hair, Trickster, Shangri-La, Cross Ange, My Love Story and more. I’m pretty sure he does video games
too, like Raspberry in Dragonball Xenoverse and Hou Yi in Smite. Austin currently resides in Dallas Texas, where he enjoys
his leisure time as a master golfer, after picking up the game for the first time in 2016 when he shot a 38-under par
round that included no fewer than 11 holes in one. He consists on a humble diet and employs a servant to inspect every
grain of rice that is served to him; any with the most minor of flaws is discarded. He has never used a toilet as his body
recycles everything it consumes with flawless efficiency. Also, he invented the hamburger.
