SACANIME SPRING <strong>2022</strong><br />

Welcome to <strong>SacAnime</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>2022</strong>, a little oasis between <strong>SacAnime</strong> Winter and <strong>SacAnime</strong> Summer. We made a<br />

real effort to invite guests who haven’t been to our shows before, or at least not in a long time. We are also taking<br />

advantage of the Roebbelen Center’s brand new outdoor stage and hosting our first live musical event since before<br />

the pandemic, featuring Kazha. The concert begins at 8pm both Friday and Saturday nights. Have a great time at<br />

<strong>SacAnime</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>2022</strong> and make sure to stay safe.<br />

KATELYN BARR<br />

Katelyn Barr has been working in anime and video games since 2013. Her professional career began with Liliana in<br />

Log Horizon and has spanned a wide variety of popular series ever since. Currently, Katelyn is best known as the voice<br />

of Ryuko “Ryukyu” Tatsuma in My Hero Academia, Ophiuchus Shaina in Saint Seiya, Yami/Golden Darkness and Tearju<br />

Lunatique in To Love Ru, Baby 5 in One Piece, and Nikki Hanada in Dr. Stone. Some personal favorite roles of hers are<br />

Rim (The Dungeon of Black Company), Hina Hikawa (BanG Dream!), Shoukaku (Azur Lane), Ren Soma (Fruits Basket),<br />

Natsumi (Date-A-Live), and Imu (Senran Kagura). In video games, she can be heard as Niyon from the Granblue Fantasy x<br />

Shadowverse universe, Sylma in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Melinda and various others in Borderlands<br />

3, and several unlockable skins in SMITE. Katelyn has also worked extensively as a scriptwriter for English dubs, with over<br />

400 episodes of anime adapted to date. Some of the titles on her résumé include Black Clover, Akame ga KILL!, Haikyu!!,<br />

and many more. Katelyn currently resides in Dallas, TX where she works full-time for FUNimation, records projects from<br />

her home studio, plays drums, and collects Halloween décor.<br />

Known worldwide to fans as the FIRST and original English voice of Goku plus Master Roshi in the Saban dub of Dragon<br />

Ball Z in the 1990’s, Corlett is the creator of Studio B Productions’ animated series Being Ian and Yvon of the Yukon. He<br />

is also well known for his voice portrayals of Mega Man and Rush in Mega Man, Coconuts in the Adventures of Sonic the<br />

Hedgehog and Cheetor in Beast Wars and Beast Machines.<br />

Christopher Guerrero is a Dallas based actor who has done voice over work for over a hundred titles at Funimation. Some<br />

of his roles include Ainz Ooal Gown (Overlord), Gecko Moria, Pekoms, and Hajrudin (One Piece), Shadow (SK8 the Infinity),<br />

Ichiya and Nichiya (Fairy Tail), Chief (Megalobox 2: Nomad), Takeuchi (MARS RED), Impey Barbicane (Code:Realize),<br />

Otter (Sarazanmai), Lavender (Dragon Ball Super), Valtos (Black Clover), The Narrator (Toriko), Shu Starling (Infinite<br />

CHUCK HUBER<br />

Chuck’s most recent anime roles are Android 17, Emperor Pilaf and Kibito in Dragon Ball Super, Kurogiri in My Hero<br />

Academia, Jajuka in Escaflowne, Kuro in Servamp, Kuniharu in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, Asanaga in Endride, Kyuta’s<br />

Father in The Boy and Beast, Tony Stark in Death Battle, Jason the Toymaker in Creepy.<br />

Chuck Huber started acting in Anime in DBZ. Since then he has voiced hundreds of characters including Hiei in YuYu<br />

Hakusho, Stein in Soul Eater, Kululu in Sgt. Frog, Mohji in One Piece, Shou Tucker in Full Metal Alchemist. He has been a<br />

writer on Hetalia, Sgt. Frog, Baccano, Spice and Wolf, Strike Witches, Dragonaut and Skip Beat!.<br />

Video games Chuck has contributed voices for include Borderlands II, Ghostbusters, The Walking Dead, Aeon Flux, DBZ,<br />

Smite, The Killing Floor …among others.<br />

As a filmmaker Chuck has acted, produced, written or directed for Arbor Day – The Musical currently on Amazon Prime,<br />

Prince Adventures, The Troubadoors, The Fragility of Seconds, The Mechanical Grave, Odd Man Out among others. He<br />

began acting in Chicago at the Goodman Theater, Court Theater, Steppenwolf Theater after graduating from DePaul<br />

KAZHA<br />

Kazha is a rock band founded by a Japanese singer-songwriter Kazuha Oda (Kazha) and a guitarist Hideki Matsushige<br />

in 2009.<br />

Kazuha Oda is a classically trained singer who has worked in various genres of music from Classic to Heavy Metal. Her<br />

work has appeared on the iTunes Top 100 charts of numerous countries for a significant amount of time. She is an Official<br />

Ambassadors of “Music Export Memphis” and currently touring nationally, representing the Birth Place of Rock’n’Roll<br />

Memphis, Tennessee.<br />

After the release of their first album in 2010, Kazha made its first U.S.A. debut performing at San Francisco’s Asian<br />

Heritage Celebration, sharing the stage with hip-hop group Far East Movement. In September 2010, the band made its<br />

first Anime Convention debut at Colorado’s Premier Anime Convention “Nan Desu Kan”. They also appeared at “Vianco<br />

Expo” and made their debut in Mexico that same year. Since then, they have been performing at numerous Anime and<br />

Comic Conventions and Festivals around the world. Kazha has shared the stage with national artists such as George<br />

Lynch, Tracii Guns, LA Guns, Y&T, Tantric, and Trapt until now. Around 2015, the band gradually started to move their base<br />

of operations to Memphis, TN. Since then, they have been featured on local broadcasts such as WREG News Channel 3,<br />

Channel 24, and WMC Action News 5.<br />

Kazha represents a new future of music: a fusion of cultures and musical view points that create their sound, combining<br />

the softness of a falling feather and the heaviness of a hurricane.<br />

Kazha will be performing Friday and Saturday nights on @thegrounds brand new outdoor stage.<br />

PHIL LAMARR<br />

A Los Angeles native, Phil is an alumnus of Yale University and The Groundlings Theater and is perhaps best known as<br />

one of the original cast members of MAD TV, “Hermes” on FUTURAMA, “Marvin” in PULP FICTION, “Green Lantern” on<br />

JUSTICE LEAGUE and as the voice of SAMURAI JACK.<br />

For over 30 years, Phil has thrilled audiences with his work on camera and behind the mic on TV shows such as<br />

STATIC SHOCK, FAMILY GUY, YOUNG JUSTICE, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, THE FLASH, SUPERGIRL, GET SHORTY,<br />

LUCIFER, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM and VEEP; feature films like MADAGASCAR 2, INCREDIBLES 2, and THE LION<br />

KING (2019) and video games including JAK & DAXTER, FORTNITE, SHADOW OF MORDOR, and the METAL GEAR<br />

SOLID, INJUSTICE and MORTAL KOMBAT series.<br />

His stage work includes productions with The Actor’s Gang, South Coast Repertory, Sacred Fools Theatre, and Phil also<br />

portrayed “Cowboy Curtis” in “The Pee-wee Herman Show” both on at The Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway and<br />

in the Emmy-nominated HBO special. Currently, in addition to writing and producing the animated series “GOBLINS,”<br />

(goblinsanimated.com), Phil is performing monthly with “THE BLACK VERSION” (theblackversion.com), appearing in<br />

Mike has been acting professionally for over 20 years in various capacities, but is most known for his voice work in<br />

animation and video games. Notable roles include “Master Roshi” in DragonBall Z and DragonBall Super, “Jean Kirstein”<br />

in Attack on Titan, “Lt. Jean Havok” in Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, “Ojiro” and “Ectoplasm”<br />

in My Hero Academia, “Buggy” in One Piece, “Amon” in Tokyo Ghoul, “Gordon” in Black Clover, “Carnage Kabuto” in One-<br />

RY MCKEAND<br />

Ry McKeand is a voice actor and Twitch streamer from Dallas. Growing up as a big fan of anime, video games, and most<br />

things nerdy, Ry decided on wanting to become an actor in his mid-teens, going on to perform theater throughout his time<br />

in college. Having gotten his start in voice acting through online forums at a young age, he moved from South Florida to<br />

pursue his long time dream of becoming a professional voice actor at the age of 20.<br />

Ry has had the to privilege to have provided his voice to many different anime and video games, including characters such<br />

from shows such as Miya Chinen in SK8 the Infinity, Shuichi Kagaya in Gleipnir, Rito Yuki in To Love Ru, Pica in One Piece,<br />

Udo in Attack on Titan, Tyrrell in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions, and more!<br />

When Ry isn’t acting, he’s streaming over on his Twitch channel, where he plays video games and interacts with his<br />

followers in all sorts of fun and goofy ways, or playing video games or watching anime in his spare time.<br />

GRIFFIN PUATU<br />

Griffin Puatu is an actor and singer prominently working in animation and video games. From the time he could talk,<br />

Griffin has had a passion for using his voice to entertain others. He would sing along to the radio and quote lines from<br />

animated movies, imitating the characters voices. This early passion soon translated to choir, musical theatre, improv and<br />

stage acting, and eventually to voice acting. Griffin has appeared in several notable projects, playing Louis in BEASTARS,<br />

Ganke Lee in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Hop in Pokemon: Twilight Wings, and Jericho in Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons.<br />

Jonah Scott is a Voice Actor, Singer and Twitch Streamer from Los Angeles. Online and in the booth, he has done voice work<br />

with studios in Tokyo and across LA. Jonah has provided his ‘Leading Man’ voice to many video games and serials including<br />

Leads in Dying Light 2, Beastars, Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and many more. Not just an accomplished actor,<br />

he is a classically trained singer with over 15 years of instruction across all disciplines. When he’s not behind the mic, he is<br />

streaming content to his large Twitch community (twitch.tv/jonahscoot), watching anime or playing Dungeons & Dragons<br />

JOHN SWASEY<br />

According to Anime News Network, John Swasey is the most prolific male voice actor in North America with more roles<br />

and titles under his belt than any other male VA. John started down the road of anime in 1997, when he landed his first<br />

role in Golden Boy from ADV Films. Since then, John has gone on to voice hundreds shows and characters with ADV Films,<br />

Funimation, and Illumitoons. Being more of the character actor type has given John the freedom to voice bazillions of<br />

characters such as Gendo in Evangelion, the Captain in Halo (VG), Lord Death in Soul Eater, Kogoro in Sgt. Frog, Huang in<br />

Darker than Black, Vulcan in Orphen, Ken in Kaleido Star, Captain Ahab in Hakugei The Legend of Moby Dick, Rikudoh in<br />

RahXephon, Karl Haushofer in Fullmetal Alchemist, Sir Crocodile in One Piece, Mister in Coyote Ragtime Show, as well as<br />

roles in the live action films 2009 Lost Memories, Conduct Zero, Yesterday, Jungle Juice, and the Gamera trilogy. In 2004,<br />

John jumped to the other side of the “mic” to direct. Some of the shows he has directed include Welcome to the N.H.K.,<br />

AirGear, Wandaba Style, St. Seiya, Shadow Skill, E’s Otherwise, Michel, Jinki Extend and Shinobi (live action co-directed with<br />

longtime pal, Kyle Jones). John loves working in the world of anime as a director and voice actor! Recently, John voiced the<br />

evil villain, General Disdain in the animated feature, Last Flight of the Champion. In addition to anime, John has voiced<br />

thousands of radio and tv commercials – even a few films. But the coolest acting job was being the Beer Delivery Guy in<br />

Dazed and Confused.<br />

LAUREN TOM<br />

Lauren Tom is an Obie Award-winning actress, known for her roles as a dutiful daughter in the film The Joy Luck Club, as<br />

Ross’s girlfriend, Julie, on the classic NBC sitcom Friends, and most recently as Mrs. Tran on Supernatural. Lauren also lent<br />

her voice talents on the animated series Futurama as the much loved character of Amy.<br />

Recently, Lauren starred in “Sweet Pecan Summer”, which was rated the highest summer movie in the history of the<br />

Hallmark channel. Next up, Lauren can be seen in Season 4 of Goliath, alongside Billy Bob Thornton. She has recurred in<br />

this Amazon Prime series since Season 2, and appears in Season 3 as well.<br />

She has also played supporting roles in the films, Grandma with Lily Tomlin, Bad Santa, In Good Company, When a Man<br />

Loves a Woman, Mr. Jones, With Friends Like These, Catfish in Black Bean Sauce, and Manhood.<br />

On television, Lauren was a series regular in Andi Mack on The Disney Channel from 2016-2019, and as Mai on the ABC<br />

series Men in Trees, NBC’s DAG as Delta Burke’s secretary, Ginger Chin and on ABC’s Grace Under Fire with Brett Butler.<br />

She also did a recurring stint on Showtime’s series Barbershop.<br />

On Broadway, she has appeared in A Chorus Line, Hurlyburly and Doonesbury, and has worked with directors such as<br />

Peter Sellars and Joanne Akalaitis at the Goodman and Guthrie Theaters, the La Jolla Playhouse and the Kennedy Center.<br />

Her one-woman show, 25 Psychics, an engaging, humorous look at her quest for inner peace premiered at HBO’S U.S.<br />

Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. The show received Dramalogue Awards for Best Performance and Best Direction.<br />

Lauren’s other voice work can be heard in the animated series Trollhunters, 3 Below, Young Justice League, King of the<br />

Hill, Codename: Kids Next Door, Teacher’s Pet, Rocket Power, Max Steel, Batman, Superman, Kim Possible, Baby Clifford,<br />

American Dragon and the animated home video Mulan II, and the feature film, Kung Fu Panda 2.<br />

She has also published personal essays in Brain, Child Magazine, East West Woman, Strut, and Freshyarn.com.<br />

BILLY WEST<br />

Billy West, is a voice actor, comedian, impressionist, musician, and former radio personality. His voice roles include Bugs<br />

Bunny in the 1996 film Space Jam and several subsequent projects, the title characters of Doug and The Ren & Stimpy<br />

Show, as well as the Futurama characters Philip J. Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and Zapp Brannigan. In<br />

commercials, he is the current voice of the Red M&M and formerly voiced Buzz for Honey Nut Cheerios. West also<br />

voices other such established characters such as Elmer Fudd, Popeye, Shaggy Rogers, Skeets, Tom, Muttley, and Woody<br />

Woodpecker. He was a cast member on The Howard Stern Show, during which time he was noted for his impressions of<br />

Larry Fine, Marge Schott, George Takei, and Jackie Martling.<br />

We’ve filled a room with all of your favorite Anime, Manga,<br />

video game and Asian Pop Culture merchandise. Now<br />

it’s up to you to decide how much of it you can carry.<br />

Artist Alley<br />

A great place to find one-of-a-kind handmade items, original artwork,<br />

or fanart of your favorite characters.<br />

Autographs<br />

Our guests will be selling their autographs at their own<br />

individual booths, cash and card accepted. Autographs usually come<br />

with a photo/picture of the guest or character the guest protrays. You may<br />

bring your own item if you wish, but it is up to each individual guest on<br />

whether or not they will sign it, depending on the content. All of<br />

the money collected goes directly to the guests. <strong>SacAnime</strong> does not<br />

set autograph pricing or receive money from autograph sales.<br />

VIP Autograph Lines<br />

<strong>SacAnime</strong> VIPs will have their own autograph lines for guests selling their<br />

autographs.<br />

Friday Night Swap Meet<br />

<strong>SacAnime</strong>’s Friday Night Swap Meet will be<br />

held in the lobby of the Exhibitor Room from<br />

8pm - 10pm on Friday night. Buy gently used<br />

anime merchandise from fellow fans.<br />
