Who is Tazreen?Sul sul, simmers! I am Tazreen Tasnim (or short,Taz). I am just a girl in her 20s who may or maynot be invested too much in the Sims! I am alsoa Design student and as I am wring this, I willbe moving to Canada this year to pursue mystudies. (Any Canadian simmers out here?!)How did you get into digital art? This is a queson I get asked oen. I like to drawtradionally; be it pastels, watercolour, sketchingand so on! But, somemes you want to makeyour hobbies a lile more interesng. Forexample, since I inially taught myself to drawtradionally, I figured It would be easy to sketchout my concepts and scan drawings into thecomputer. I see many arsts do this, and it isreally effecve because you get to experimentand switch back and forth between both artworlds!Do you have any formal training in art? This answer might be a bit hazy, so bear withme! I used to go to pre-school art classes as achild but ironically, I was not very keen ondrawing back then. As I grew older, my artteachers in school oen complimented me formy work, and that gave me a huge confidentboost. As school ended, I had plenty of free meto take drawing seriously and drew as much as Ican! A lile bit of training always helps for ahead-startWhat medium is the hardest to work with?As of now, the medium I see myself strugglingwith are watercolours. Don’t get me wrong, I likethe freedom and beauful uncertaines of themedium, but I agree with many arsts that whileyou can learn to paint in watercolours, it is adifficult medium to truly master! What advice would you have for anyone whowants to start creang digital art?Great queson! I think it is common to think youneed fancy equipment and tablets to get intodigital art. While a tablet will undoubtedly makeyour workflow easier, you don’t necessarily“need” to have it. I would suggest anyone tograsp the basics of Adobe Illustrator or any othervector-based programs. I know that soundsscary, but trust me, if you have a hobby forpung ideas and sketches onto paper, transferring it to Illustrator is a piece of cake, and YES, drawing with a mouse is definitelypossible!! All you need are the Pen and Penciltools. What programs do you use to create yourpieces?I mainly use Adobe Illustrator to block in themain shapes of my pieces, and move on toAdobe Photoshop for textures and shading forfinalizaonYou sell your art on Redbubble, why did youpick that plaorm?Sites like Redbubble are Print-On-Demand sitesthat are becoming popular nowadays. What itmeans is that they basically take care ofshipping, packaging and transportaon. This is ahuge relief for arsts as it saves you the stress ofshipping, and they deliver right at your doorstepwithout any hassle. I have also heard fromcustomers that their quality is also surprisinglygood considering they are a Print-On-Demandcompany.“This is a tough queson! I amconstantly exploring my art stylebecause I like experimenng withdifferent textures, brushes andcolours”What would you call your style of art? This is a tough queson! I am constantlyexploring my art style because I likeexperimenng with different textures, brushes and colours. While I do not have a“fixed” art style, If you are familiar with mypieces, you may noce that I try to use alimited colour palee to keep things simple, even for complicated pieces. I finish off myworks with slight pastel-y brush strokes fortexture. I think that explains why I enjoy thegriy look of pastels both in tradional anddigital art! When did you start playing The Sims?Yay! Sims quesons! I started playing The Simswhen I was just 4 years old. Two of my favourite37
