Applic<strong>at</strong>ions for higher educ<strong>at</strong>ion courses<br />

are made from September 2021.<br />

The official UCAS deadline is 15 January<br />

2022, although we advise students <strong>to</strong><br />

complete their UCAS applic<strong>at</strong>ions by<br />

Friday 12th November 2021.<br />

*Please note the applic<strong>at</strong>ion deadline for<br />

Oxford and Cambridge applic<strong>at</strong>ions and for<br />

Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science is<br />

Thursday 15 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2021 <strong>at</strong> 6pm.<br />

If you miss the deadline and would still like<br />

<strong>to</strong> apply, please contact one of the Careers<br />

Advisers immedi<strong>at</strong>ely on 0191 490 2216<br />

or email career.guidance@g<strong>at</strong>eshead.ac.uk.<br />

To successfully complete your applic<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

form you will need <strong>to</strong> produce a personal<br />

st<strong>at</strong>ement. Keep an eye out for workshops<br />

and seminars which we usually deliver<br />

from mid September <strong>to</strong> Oc<strong>to</strong>ber, covering<br />

the applic<strong>at</strong>ion process and writing<br />

personal st<strong>at</strong>ements. There are also a<br />

number of <strong>guide</strong>s available in the Careers<br />

Centre <strong>to</strong> assist you with the research and<br />

prepar<strong>at</strong>ion of your applic<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

You can access <strong>guide</strong>s with detailed<br />

inform<strong>at</strong>ion on the college UCAS procedure<br />

for applying <strong>to</strong> higher educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

These <strong>guide</strong>lines are available on the<br />

G<strong>at</strong>eshead <strong>College</strong> website.<br />

As soon as you consider higher educ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

as a potential option you can access one <strong>to</strong><br />

one support on all m<strong>at</strong>ters regarding higher<br />

educ<strong>at</strong>ion and applying <strong>to</strong> university via<br />

the UCAS Advice Service which is available<br />

every week from Oc<strong>to</strong>ber <strong>to</strong> January.<br />

You can discuss your plans and ideas with a<br />

Careers Adviser. In addition, you should let<br />

your teacher know th<strong>at</strong> you are applying <strong>to</strong><br />

university and provide them with a copy of<br />

your personal st<strong>at</strong>ement <strong>to</strong> enable them <strong>to</strong><br />

write your academic reference.<br />
