ELECTIVE CHOICES<br />

Most degrees and certifi cate programs of study include “electives” in the list of General Education requirements. An elective is any course numbered<br />

100 or higher. Check the course descriptions for any prerequisites. Some programs may require an elective from specifi ed areas. Please consult<br />

specifi c degree program requirements for those elective choices.<br />

COMMUNICATION ELECTIVES include any Communication (COM) course numbered 100 or higher.<br />

ENGLISH ELECTIVES include any English (ENG) course numbered 100 or higher.<br />

HUMANITIES ELECTIVES include any course numbered 100 or higher in the following areas:<br />

Art (ART)<br />

American Sign Language (ASL)<br />

German (GRM)<br />

History 105, 106<br />

Humanities (HUM)<br />

Music (MUS)<br />

Philosophy (PHL)<br />

Spanish (SPN)<br />

Theatre (THR)<br />

English courses 180, 195, 220, 225, 240, 245, 250, 260, 265 also count as Humanities electives.<br />

MATHEMATICS ELECTIVES include any Mathematics (MTH) course numbered 100 or higher.<br />

SCIENCE ELECTIVES include any course numbered 100 or higher in the following areas:<br />

Biological Clinical Science (BCS)<br />

Biology (BIO)<br />

Chemistry (CHM)<br />

Engineering (EGR)<br />

Physics (PHY)<br />

SOCIAL/BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE ELECTIVES include any course numbered 100 or higher in the following areas:<br />

Agriculture (AGR) - AGR 100<br />

Anthropology (ANT)<br />

Economics (ECO)<br />

Geography (GRY)<br />

History (HST)<br />

Political Science (PLS)<br />

Psychology (PSY) - please check specifi c degree to see if PSY 100 qualifi es as an elective<br />

Sociology (SOC)<br />

NOTE: As required by Missouri law, all degree programs must include instruction in both the U.S. and the Missouri State<br />

Constitution. This can be satisfi ed by either PLS 101 or both HST 120 and HST 130.<br />

SOPHOMORE SEMINAR Minimum of 28 hours in the general education block is required for enrollment.<br />
