It seems to start
earlier and earlier
each year! We may
just be into October,
but I already have
some Christmas
dates for your dairy
- before we’ve even
got Halloween out of
the way!
Let’s talk about that first then,
shall we? ROLL UP, ROLL UP
to the Labyrinth’s latest show -
THE CORN EVIL. For 11 nights
only at Notts Maze, CORN
EVIL invites you to discover
it’s darkest secrets. The freaks
you’ll encounter here are like
no other, years on the road can
send you a little…stir crazy. The
entrance won’t be hard to find
but the exit certainly will be. Try
not to scream, you don’t want
to upset them. Pre-booking is
recommended as there will only
be so many tickets on the gate.

you, you can still experience the
12 acre maze in other ways. You
could immerse yourself in a Laser
Tag outdoor adventure game
or Forestry School - Suitable

Mayhem Film Festival will return
this autumn to showcase the best
in international horror, sci-fi and
cult cinema, with the festival’s
17th edition planned to run for
four days from 14 - 17 Oct.
Moving on to Christmas, and
after a sensational debut,
Christmas at Wollaton is back
this November. The seasonal
classic with a contemporary twist
looks set to become an annual
tradition.
As twilight descends, Wollaton
Hall and Gardens once again
promise a visually stunning
multi-sensory experience as they
become an enchanting world of
light and music. (26 Nov - 9 Jan).
There’s a brand new trail for 2021
and also a quieter twilight option.
For foodies, Thoresby Park
Craft and Artisan Food Market
also returns on 3 Oct, offering a
range of stalls from homemade
dog treats and homemade
bee products to gin, chutneys,
jewellery, crafts and many more.
If you prefer trying your hand
at crafts yourself, get over to
Debbie Bryan in the Lace Market
where you can have a go at a
candle making class (14 & 18
Oct). Learn how to melt, dye
and fragrance your wax as well
as designing your own candle
glassware and lid with surface
pattern design painting and
gilding. They also have wreath
making (14 Nov).
There’s just time to stagger
around the Nottingham Ale Trail.
The event remains central to
Nottingham’s pub scene with a
month-long celebration of local
pubs, breweries and cask ale.
This year the trails take place
until 3 Oct.
Nottingham CAMRA’s annual
Robin Hood Beer and Cider
Festival also returns and will once
again be held at Trent Bridge
Cricket Ground (13-16 Oct).
If you’re looking for live music,
look no further than the Theatre
Royal and Royal Concert Hall.
There seems to be a bit of 80’s
nostalgia going on as Jason
Donovan visits to perform
his hits and numbers from
the musicals (30 Oct) there’s
also Steve Hackett Genesis
Revisited - Seconds Out &
More! (2 Oct), Michael Bolton
(11 Oct), Level 42 (13 Oct) and
Rick Astley (10 Nov).
Musical lovers can enter a world
of magic and fantasy as Disney’s
classic movie Bedknobs and
Broomsticks makes its world
premiere as an exciting new
stage musical (6-10 Oct).
