APPOINTMENTS ITC EMPLOYS TWO APPRENTICES BOWMAN INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS NEW MANAGER Bowman International has announced the appointment of Chris Ager, as the new Business Unit Manager for its rapidly growing Split Bearings division. Having worked in the split bearings industry for 16 years, the last seven of which was for a leading competitor, Chris brings to his role a wealth of industry knowledge that will undoubtedly benefit Bowman’s increasing split bearing customer base, with the implementation of leaner ordering processes, increased distribution channels and the research and development of further split bearing innovations. The Tamworth cutting tool manufacturer has a long tradition of employing engineering apprentices and it is delighted to welcome the arrival of Danny Cockbill and Blaine Hughes as the 2021 cohort. The new additions to the ITC team have already undergone academic engineering studies at a local college and their arrival at ITC will certainly set the two teenagers on a fulfilling career in engineering. During their 4 year apprenticeships, the two new apprentices will be exposed to a comprehensive practical and academic programme that will see the new starters learn their trade on state-of-the-art technology. Prior to and throughout the pandemic, ITC has invested extensively in new CNC grinding machines and peripheral equipment to retain its position as a leading UK manufacturer of high-quality innovative cutting tool solutions. It is within this hightech environment that Danny and Blaine will both gain valuable experience and academic After two years away from XYZ Machine Tools, former Applications Manager, Mike Corbett is returning to the Burlescombe, Devon-based machine tool company where he will take on the role of Production/ Technical Manager from the 1st September. The position became vacant within the decision by Mark Chappell, who has held the role since joining XYZ Machine Tools back in 2018, to return to live and work in Dubai in September. “Mark’s decision posed a few challenges as finding good people with the relevant experience, in a relatively short timescale is exceedingly challenging,” says Nigel Atherton, Managing Director XYZ Machine Tools. “Fortunately, the move coincided with a chat with Mike and his 22 years’ experience of our products and skill sets that will set them on a path to fulfilling manufacturing careers. Commenting upon the appointments, ITC Director Georgia Graves says: “Over the last 9 years we have recruited more than 10 apprentices that have become valued members of our continually growing team.
