DUGARD NEW
MACHINES AT
EMO
At the forthcoming EMO exhibition, the
principal partners of Dugard Machine Tools
will be introducing a host of new machine
tools that will be available from Dugard this
autumn. The new arrivals include highly
productive sliding head turning centres from
Hanwha, robust turning centres from SMEC
and multi-axis high-end machining centres
from Kitamura.
For manufacturers of turned parts,
Hanwha will be demonstrating the
capabilities of its new Hanwha XDI26 and
XDI32 sliding head turning centres.
Available from Dugard, the new Hanwha
XDI26 and XDI32 are sliding head turning
centres that provide a turning capacity of
26mm and 32mm diameter respectively. The
3-path 9-axis independent opposite gang tool
machines demonstrate exceptional levels of
productivity and flexibility for all your small
turned part machining applications. The
compact production centres are supplied
with a FANUC 31iB CNC control, 7 turning
tools plus 4 front and 7 rear ER16M tools as
well as a multitude of cross drill and B-axis
tools for optimum flexibility. As standard,
the new XDI machines include cross drilling
units, guide bush holder, coolant flow
sensors, superimposed control, part
conveyor and more. The optional extras are
seemingly endless – ensuring that Dugard
can facilitate all of your small turned part
needs with this new series.
For the turning of larger parts, SMEC will
be introducing the new PL2000 and NS2100
turning centres. The SMEC PL2000 Series is a
6 or 8-inch chuck machine with a 45-degree
slant bed with torque tubing for heavy-duty
machining. Available in several variants, the
new PL2000 offers a swing over bed of
570mm with a machining length up to
307mm and a through bore capacity of 61 or
76mm depending upon the chosen variant.
With a powerful 11/18.5kW spindle motor
and up to 12 tool positions on a turret, the
PL2000 is a compact and powerful
workhorse that will improve productivity
and performance for any turned part
manufacturer.
EMO MILANO
COME AND MEET THE PEOPLE
BEHIND HYPERMILL ®
The EMO metalworking exhibition being
held from 4 to 9 October 2021 will provide a
great opportunity for manufacturers to meet
the OPEN MIND Technologies AG team and
discuss their challenges with machining
specialists from many sectors in person.
Version 2021.2, the most recent release of the
hyperMILL® CAD/CAM suite, will also be
presented at booth G12 in hall 7.
The CAD/CAM specialists will also be
providing an early look at what’s to come in
Version 2022.1 as well as demonstrating the
hyperMILL® VIRTUAL Machining Center
that generates simulations based on real NC
data and creates a perfect virtual rendering of
reality in the machine, marking the first step
in advanced process optimisation and
automation.
OPEN MIND provides innovative
technologies for 2.5D to 5-axis simultaneous
machining, additive manufacturing and
automation. Playing a central role in process
optimisation is hyperMILL® VIRTUAL
Machining, this simulates and optimises
machining operations using a digital twin,
Gleason Corporation will showcase the latest
technologies in design, manufacturing and
inspection of cylindrical and bevel gears.
Special focus will be given to the new
KISSsoft Gear and Transmission Design
Capabilities, 100%-In-Process Control, Gear
Noise Analysis and live manufacturing
demonstrations from Gleason operations
around the globe.
Gleason will present several new
products with live webcasts directly from its
global operations including a world
premiere, the 280HCD Genesis® Gear
Hobbing Machine with Integrated Chamfer
Hobbing, high precision Threaded Wheel
and Polish Grinding, combined Power
Skiving and gear hobbing, and the new
Phoenix® 500C Bevel Gear Cutting Machine
with Pentac® Ecoblade Cutter System for
considering the individual machine
kinematics.
Alongside live demonstrations on CAM
workstations, OPEN MIND will also be
presenting machining examples to showcase
the wide range of functions the software has
to offer. The main attraction this time around
will be an aluminium panther that will be on
display on the booth. This extraordinary,
highly detailed piece is the outcome of a
collaboration with OPEN MIND and the tool
clamping experts at HAIMER GmbH, who
are sponsors of the German Ice Hockey
League (DEL) team, the Augsburg Panthers.
CLOSED LOOP MANUFACTURING, 100%
IN-PROCESS QUALITY CONTROL WITH
GEAR NOISE ANALYSIS, AND LIVE DEMOS
bevel gears up to 500 mm in diameter.
Experts will be available to answer questions
and demonstrate specific features of
products. For customers not able to
participate in EMO 2021, Gleason’s
“emotions” virtual showrooms will be
available to experience all exhibits remotely.
