Message in a Bottle Promotion
On Friday 10th September members
of Swaffham and District Lions Club
were in Swaffham Market Place to
successfully promote Message in a Bottle. This
totally free small container can be, and on occasions
is, a life saver. During the morning a number of local
residents were very pleased to be able to collect a
bottle and one Swaffham based District Nurse took
a whole box to support her patients all of whom live
locally.
The system works by the householder completing a
form and placing it in the small plastic bottle, along
with a copy of their prescription, in their fridge. A
sticker is placed on the outside of the fridge and
another inside the front door. The emergency
services are fully aware of this national scheme
promoted and delivered by Lions across the UK.
Bottles are available from local pharmacies, surgeries
and Lions themselves.

Swaffham Lioness Lions
The Pride of Swaffham
The Lionesses are once again meeting in the
Catholic Church meeting room, and it’s great to be
meeting face to face after so long. We are well on the
way to building up our new Charity Account after
becoming a new Branch Club of Swaffham Lions,
after the closure of Lioness Clubs Internationally.
This was kick-started by a generous donation from
the family of past Lioness Rosemary, who sadly
passed away in June.
We celebrated the Lioness Club’s 30th Anniversary
with a belated birthday party held at the George
Hotel in August. It was a lovely evening with past
and present club Presidents and members attending.
A raffle, a “Heads or Tails” game and the sale of
chutneys and the lovely table flower arrangements
made over £200 for our new Charity Account.
We held a successful Tombola and Bric-a-brac
stall at the Historic Vehicle Rally on the Rec at the
end of August, and we also helped with the event
by selling programmes at the gate. It was a very
popular day and was well attended, so we were
kept very busy!
