Cooking Sims..StyleWith Granny.RDelicious SpookinessAs a grandma I love baking cookies but I also lovehorror movies and heavy metal music so SpookySeason is the time of the year when all the things Ilove come together. From dressing up in silly, wildor scary costumes to making other Sims jump withfright, there is nothing not to love about SpookySeason. Seeing all the little children run aroundcollecting candy always warms my heart but Iprefer a more personal touch to trick or treat thenopening a bag of store-bought candies. You toocan be the treat of your neighbourhood with thiseasy spooky cookie recipe.34Cookies125g butter, softened1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar1/2 cup (125ml) golden syrup1 egg yolk2 1/2 cups (375g) plain flour1 tbsp ground ginger1 tsp ground cinnamon1/2 tsp ground clovesOrange food colouring2 green sour straps1m licorice strapChocolate writing gelEdible glitter, to decorate1 egg white, lightly whisked1/2 tsp lemon juice2 cups (320g) pure icing sugar
Step 1Preheat the oven to 180C.Line 2 baking trays withbaking paper.Step 2Use an electric mixer tobeat the butter, sugar andgolden syrup until light andfluffy. Add the egg yolk andbeat until just combined.Add flour, ginger, cinnamonand cloves and stir tocombine. Turn onto a lightlyfloured surface and kneaduntil smooth. Wrap in plasticwrap and place in the fridgefor 30 minutes to rest.Step 3Divide dough into 2 even portions. Roll aportion out on a lightly floured surface to a5mm-thick disc. Use an 8cm-diameter roundpastry cutter to cut discs from the pastry. Usea small sharp knife to cut small 1cm wedgesfrom 2 opposite sides of a disc to create apumpkin shape. Use your fingers to gentlysmooth and round the edges. Place in thefridge to rest.Step 4Roll the remaining dough out to a 5mm-thickdisc. Use the top half of a gingerbread mancutter to cut the head and arms from thedisc. Use a small sharp knife to cut thebottom half into a ghost shape. Place on theremaining tray. Place in the fridge for 30minutes to rest.Divide the icing into 2 even portions. Tint aportion using the orange colouring. Spreadthe icing evenly over each of the pumpkinshapes. Use a small sharp knife to trim thelicorice strap into small triangles to createeyes and mouth. Attach to biscuits. Cut sourstrap into 1mm-thick strips, wrap around askewer to create a vine. Attach to the top ofeach pumpkin. Set aside to set.Step 7Spread the white icing evenly over the ghostcookies. Pipe chocolate gel onto the ghoststo create eyes. Sprinkle evenly with glitter tocreate a shimmer. Set aside to setcompletely.Step 5Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes oruntil lightly golden. Set aside to cool.Step 6To make the royal icing, place the egg whiteand lemon juice in a small bowl. Gradually addthe icing sugar to form a smooth paste.
