The Ruhrgebiet has a long film<br />
tradition, at the centre of which, of<br />
course, are the cinemas. It’s only fitting<br />
that the largest multiplex cinema<br />
in Germany is located in Essen: Cinemaxx<br />
has a whopping 16 screens and<br />
a total of over 5,000 seats. The UCI<br />
multiplex cinema in Bochum's Ruhrpark<br />
has been showing the Ruhrgebiet<br />
film “Bang Boom Bang” for over 20<br />
years. Cool! The “Metropolis!” is still<br />
in operation in Bochum Central Station.<br />
It’s a genuine old cinema, albeit<br />
with a more serious programme than<br />
in the past. We’ve put together a list<br />
of some of the most beautiful and<br />
remarkable cinemas in the Ruhr region<br />
– along with the most important<br />
festivals. Lights out, roll the movie!<br />
