W elcome back to Ashton Gate as we get set for midweek football under the lights. Thank you for your support on Saturday. It was a tough lesson for us, so it’s about learning from the experience, keeping positive and doing everything we can to bounce back on Tuesday night. I want us to control possession a lot better because we didn’t hit the levels I know we are capable of against AFC Bournemouth. We were disjointed and well beaten by a very good side on the day. We need to compete much better against Nottingham Forest. I don’t think we can have too many complaints because we come into this new fixture after playing against the best side we have faced so far this season. It's difficult to judge our performance from Saturday because it was like playing against a Premier League team, but now we need a response. Tuesday is another chance for us to get that win at home. I strongly believe we can do that against a Nottingham Forest team which has put together some good results under Steve Cooper in recent weeks. He has brought a lot of experience and we IT'S DIFFICULT TO JUDGE OUR PERFORMANCE FROM SATURDAY BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE PLAYING AGAINST A PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM, BUT NOW WE NEED A RESPONSE. expect to face a difficult opponent who have their tails up at this moment in time. We lost Joe Williams early into the game on Saturday and at the time of writing these programme notes it was still too early to say much more. We feel so much for him: he’s such a hard worker, he’s been through a lot and he has always remained so dedicated. He’ll be supported by everyone here while he recovers and looks to get fit again. When one player misses out, it opens more opportunities for other members of the squad. The situation then is about those players taking their chances. Players might find themselves in a position where they are required to play so it’s not about bemoaning the circumstances, it’s about new opportunities and expecting the players who come in to go out there and perform.
