2020 Annual ReportThe year 2020 brought great changesfor the whole world and our country. Inthis period, which was deeply influencedby the pandemic, we have felt itseconomic consequences seriously inTurkey and in the world.The main feature of the economic crisiscaused by Covid-19 which distinguishesit from other global economic crises isthat it emerged as a significant andunexpected negative shock on both sidesof economic activity, namely supply anddemand.Despite all the extraordinary challengescaused by the pandemic, Bilkent Holdinghas achieved the financial targetsit has set for 2020. Bilkent Holding'sconsolidated sales, which were TL 2.9billion in 2019, were maintained at TL3.011 billion in 2020. As a result of ourincreased operational profitabilityin 2020, our consolidated EBITDAincreased by 65% year-on-year,reaching TL 659 million. And ourconsolidated assets increased by 9%,exceeding TL 4.9 billion.In 2020, when we struggled withmany changes and challenges, we, asBilkent Holding, continue our activitiesefficiently thanks to our prudent andeffective financial management as wellas outstanding efforts of our employees.The most important factor of ourachievements to date is undoubtedlyour strong human resources. As BilkentHolding and its group companies,the number of our employees has notdecreased during this difficult period,and as of the end of 2020, the number ofemployees is 26,379. Tepe Defense, TepeService and BCC Catering continue tolead our workforce.Tepe Service moved up to 385th placein the Fortune 500, ranking 54thamong Ankara-based companies. Inaddition, it ranked 39th in the numberof employees and 44th among thecompanies that increased their salesthe most. With a female employee ratioof 61%, Tepe Service ranked 23rd with5,020 female employees in the "FemaleEmployee Friendly" category and56th with 74 female managers in the"Female Manager Friendly" categoryamong the top 100 companies in CapitalMagazine's ranking of "Women FriendlyCompanies".Moreover, Tepe Service obtained theV-SAFE Secure Service Certificate aspart of the service competency of thecompany during the Covid-19 outbreak.And BCC Catering obtained the Covid-19Safe Production Certificate.Another development we are proud of isthe establishment of Felisya Biomedicalwith the purpose of providing benefitfor public health and developing newtechnologies and products in the field ofhealth technologies.We pay importance to digitaltransformation projects that willdetermine our way of doing businessin the future. Accordingly, theInformation Technologies and DigitalTransformation Coordination Officewas established within the holding,and we continue to invest in innovationin all our companies. Almost all of theholding and group companies haveadopted the same ERP system and wehave achieved the target of effectivemanagement of business processes. Themodular furniture collection speciallyproduced by Tepe Home was launched,the mobile application was introducedand JivoChat application was providedon the e-commerce site as the livesupport provider.Bilkent CYBERPARK, one of Turkey'slargest technoparks, became theChampions of Turkey for the secondtime by winning the "NationalWinner" award during the EuropeanEntrepreneurship EncouragementAwards (EEPA) organized by theEuropean Commission.Tourism is one of the most affectedsectors during the pandemic. Prioritizingthe importance it attaches to itscustomers above all else, Bilkent Hotelbecame the first hotel in Ankara toreceive the "Safe Tourism Certificate".Tepe Prefabricated Constructionperformed the manufacturing andinstallation of the 26,134 m2 section ofTurkey's first pandemic hospital, builtby the Ministry of Health in Yeşilköy,İstanbul, in a very short time like 45days.Tepe Construction, one of the leadingconstruction companies in Turkeywith its experience of more than 50years, managed to enter the ENRContractors list in 2020, moving up 5ranks compared to the previous yearand ranking in the 179th place. TepeConstruction started the construction of"Park Mozaik Su", the third phase of thePark Mozaik project, which made a greatimpression with its architectural styleand innovative design.Developing high technology productsfor the defense and security of Turkey,Meteksan Defence signed the contractfor the Retinar FARAD Drone DetectionRadar and delivered it with greatsuccess in the same year. A design andconsultancy contract was signed forthe second Wound Defense TrainingSimulator in the Republic of Korea.Meteksan Defence held the press releaseof Turkey's First Armed UnmannedSea Vehicle, ULAQ, as a result of itscooperation with ARES Shipyard.Bilkent Center, which is managed byTepe Real Estate Investment, becamethe first shopping mall to receive theZero Waste Certificate by establishingthe Zero Waste Management System.Then, Tepe Nautilus received the ZeroWaste Certificate with the Zero WasteManagement System it established.Tepe Betopan, one of the leadingcompanies in the construction materialsindustry, became one of the 4 Turkishpartners in the Iceberg Project, which isa part of the EU Horizon 2020, one of theworld's largest civil research programs.I would like to express my gratitude toespecially our founder Prof. Dr. İhsanDoğramacı as well as all our employeesand stakeholders, who have contributedto Bilkent Holding's success until today.With my best wishes to reach healthyand happy tomorrows together...24
