The UN is a family of nations consisting of member states, like children. While the UN recognizes each nation to be a
'sovereign state', like a good parent, it will not interfere unless help is requested. Sri Lanka's recent history has shown
that as a sovereign state, it has not only abused its sovereign power but continues to do so. Yet, the UN will not interfere
until and unless SL, if it is a peace-abiding nation, requests assistance. The reluctance by SL to seek help may be a
symptom of its own blindness. The 'wisdom' of a sovereign state is determined by its ability to see and feel. Can 'wisdom'
prevail?
