#3 The launch of our
Equality Action Plan.
Our Equality Action Plan
was created by the WWSET
EqualiTeam which was formed in
March 2021 when we recognised
that we needed to be more
proactive in demonstrating
our commitment to Equality,
Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I)
throughout the charity.
WWSET is committed to creating
a culture that has equality,
diversity and inclusion at its core.
We celebrate and value people’s
differences and will always strive
to learn and develop when it
comes to ED&I matters. By doing
this we hope to continually ignite
understanding, opportunities,
respect, empowerment and
allyship within our work place
and wider community.
#4 We are expanding
our team!
We are on the lookout for
two enthusiastic and creative
young people, who will be aged
between 18 and 24, to fill the
roles of ‘Community Health
& Wellbeing Activator’ and
‘Education Support Officer’.
Both positions offer paid
employment and an opportunity
to pick up valuable, transferable
skills and experience. Your
personal development will
be supported through your
time with us via additional
training and mentoring as well
as supporting your eventual
pathway into further employment
or education post-placement.

#5 We were joined by the
Mayor at our Walking
Football session.
We were delighted to be joined
at our walking football session
last week by the Mayor of High
Wycombe, Andrea Baughan, as
we moved the sessions from
outside in the cold at Lane End
Playing Fields to our warm, inside
pitch at Wycombe Leisure Centre.
Head of Health, Simon Wears,
joined Colin Bezley live on the
multi-award winning Wycombe
Sound during the session to talk
about it.
Walking football offers a
multitude of health benefits to
older people such as reducing the
risk of cardiovascular disease and
stroke, whilst helping to improve
blood pressure. Walking football
also gives an often isolated
section of the community the
chance to become involved in
something they really enjoy and
make new friends.
There’s a lot going on as always
here at WWSET, and we’d love
you to be involved! Whether
it’s joining us for one of our
upcoming sessions (there are
a couple of announcements
coming up on this), taking part in
one of our upcoming fundraising
events, or simply supporting us
by liking and sharing our social
media channels, we’d love to hear

Finally, we are delighted to
launch our ‘Pre-Apprenticeship in
Football Coaching’ programme
today, where we are working
with Bucks Council and their
Virtual Schools department. The
course will offer young people
the chance to learn about the insand-outs
of football to help them
aspire to work in the industry
when they are old enough to
qualify for an apprenticeship.
Areas covered include coaching
and media work, as well as the
broader principles of teamwork,
planning and organisation. There
will be more to follow on this as
it gets underway, but we’d like
to thank you Maria Seth from
Buckinghamshire Council for
working with us on this incredible
project.
