TUG LYTTELTON’S days of
using coal appear numbered
(see page 1).
Options are being
considered to use alternative
fuels to power the 115-year-old
vessel, which uses 60-tonne of
coal a year. That’s not good for
the environment.
“We’ve got to change, we
want to run the ship for
another 100 years, we won’t do
that on coal, we’ve got to move
away, it has to be done,” says
Tug Lyttelton Preservation
Society president Mike Bruce.
And well done the Charteris
Bay Boyle Cup team for
their tremendous run which
continued through 2021.
