Ambassador MSc. Manuel Corrales
shared his experience in the course
generation and analysis of waves in
physical models taught by Professors
Thomas Lykke and Peter Frigaard of
Aalborg University.
The course reviewed the main
formulations of the equations that
describe regular and irregular waves,
linear and non-linear, and how they
are reproduced by generators.
In addition, the effects and
considerations when a physical model
is carried out were discussed. These
types of physical models, for example,
are required to evaluate wave energy
converts.
Researchers from universities such as the University of Gent, the University of
Granada, DST Duisburg, France Energies Marines and Aalborg University and the
University of Genoa participated, studying wave energy.
Did you know...?
The school of civil engineering at
Aalborg University has a canal and
tank run by Drs Thomas Lykke
Andersen and Peter Frigaard.
The tank has 36 blades with a
horizontal piston motor mechanism,
while the wave channel has a single
paddle that presents the same
movement mechanism.
