EDITORIAL
The Pan-American Ocean Energy Student (POES) network was created with
the desire to expand knowledge about Ocean Energy (OE), which has enormous
potential for the harnessing energy and offers solutions that are linked to the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG number 7, which
suggests generating a sustainable energy transition that promotes
diversification in the global energy matrix. Currently, this type of energy still
has to face some challenges in research and development so that it can be a
viable and competitive alternative that allows governments to enact successful
regulations for its commercialization in the near future.
In order to generate discussion spaces to promote these new technologies, the
POES Newsletter is created, where twice a year it is intended to publish
information related to the objectives of the network, such as: news, workshops,
conferences, courses, publications, etc.
This first issue presents the philosophy of the network, the organizational
structure, the efforts made by the ambassadors in their respective countries;
events with the participation of members of the network and the dissemination
of OEs; approaches with other institutions and organizations; news; upcoming
events, and recent member posts.
We hope that this Newsletter is to your liking and motivates you to participate
with us so that society knows the alternatives and solutions offered by this type
of energy. We are convinced that the future of a society depends on the capacity
for transformation of the environment and the consciousness of its individuals.
